Maybe the best location in town. Quiet neighborhood but in walking distance to most attractions. House is quirky in the way of old houses but comfortable and inviting. Beds are exceptional with pillowtop mattresses duvets and extra pillows.
Two bathrooms, but only one with a shower. Plan for this in advance -- you have to take turns or use the tub. Bath with the shower is downstairs off kitchen. I did say "quirky" Features art, books and garden and front porch. No television, but dvd player.
The Historic Old West Side of Ann Arbor was built close to the railroad tracks, feed stores, hardware stores and small factories just a block or two from a fashionable main street. Those utilitarian structures are now clubs, art galleries and world class restaurants.
Because The West Side was also a borderline between city and the countryside, it became the site for the University of Michigan Stadium -- the Big House -- just a mile away from where you might stay.
Off street parking is part of the rental, and a rare and wonderful feature this close to downtown and the stadium.
Please note: house is only available Thurs-Sunday except through special arrangement.
Servicios y zonas comunes
Guests do not share the house with host or other guests during their stay, but there are additional fees that apply for more than two guests. Please feel free to contact host with any questions.
Atención a los huéspedes
I tend to interact with my guests electronically. I am quickly responsive to their needs, but I am not on site during their visits.
Otros aspectos destacables
This is a cozy little place. You must be a fan of old houses to enjoy it. It is not really suitable for guests who are accustomed to spacious size and mod cons. It is a pleasure for those who appreciate its uniqueness and location.
The house is located near the university and the stadium, but it is a quiet adult neighborhood. It is not a place to have parties (you will find all the fun you want downtown). Please leave the house in a clean orderly (URL HIDDEN) not move furniture except for obvious movable pieces such as chairs.
Cat should remain indoors and downstairs while you are here. She is friendly, but I keep the bedrooms fur free.
Please note that there is an additional fee for use of the second bedroom
I am an older adult who loves living spaces, my own and others. I am a creative writer and visual artist, with a passion for highly personalized generally older houses, but I sometimes fall in love with something brand new.
Location is everything for me. I have lived in historic places in Marblehead, MA, Chicago, Detroit, Washington, DC , Mexico and Antigua, Guatemala.
I am happy to live without a television, but must have a computer, a link to NPR, books and artist supplies. A private outdoor space no matter how small seals the deal.
When I travel, I want to learn how people live in that particular place. I visit markets, bookstores and love to see playgrounds and schools. I am often as happy to see the outsides of buildings as I am to go inside.
Nature enchants me, but at heart I am a city person.
