A large loft double bedroom (converted 2013) with own private shower room/WC and sweeping views of the city from the two Velux balconies.

A large loft double bedroom (converted 2013) with own private shower room/WC and sweeping views of the city from the two Velux balconies. There is a comfortable, cozy double bed (4 foot wide), and all towels and bedlinen is freshly laundered (although not ironed).

Our maisonette is spread over three floors, and furnished throughout with shabby chic antiques. We live here with our two children but the top floor is private for Airbnb guests. The kitchen is available in the morning for guests to help themselves to tea, coffee and juice (and there is usually cereal, toast and spreads for guests too).

Our facilities:
- internet & wifi
- hairdryer in room
- USB charger
- residents parking - we can get you a visitor's permit if you ask in advance
- baby/kids equipment (highchair, cot, buggy, toys such as dolls house, train set etc) (no stairgates)
- There is a comfortable blow up mattress available if you and your guest wish to have separate beds (if you'd like us to make the bed up for you there is a one off charge of £20, if you're happy to bring a sleeping bag and inflate it yourself it's free).

The loft room and bathroom are part of our flat (and up about 57 steps from street level), but the space is private to you when you're there (and have we mentioned the great views?).

We enjoy welcoming and chatting to our guests, and embrace juggling airbnb commitments with a busy family, social and work life. Most guests are here to explore London and spend a lot of their time out and about, coming back to the airy loft room to chill out and enjoy those views. Because of work commitments and doing the school run, weekday mornings can be busy, but the kitchen is available to guests between 8.45 and 10am so they can help themselves to tea, coffee, juices, cereal, fruit, toast and spreads.

Brixton is busy and thriving: there's the Brixton O2 Academy live music venue (10 mins walk), and opposite our flat is the Hootananny, voted south London's best live music venue – more often than not, the bands are free. The market with its food stalls and vibrant restaurants are a huge draw for people all over London. Food critic Jay Rayner called Brixton Market "the most exciting, radical venture on the British restaurant scene right now" (The Guardian). There's a great farmers market on Sundays, as well as all kinds of arts exhibitions, vintage shops, ethnic fabric outlets. Even the New York Times has covered Brixton Market.

The entrance to Brockwell Park is a few yards from our front door, and with its recently restored Lido (and award-winning cafe) this is a secret gem of south London. There's also the park's romantic walled garden, the brand new playgrounds, the meditative duck ponds, and from the top of the hill, fabulous views of central London (let us know if you want to use our tennis gear, kites, sandpit kit and we'll make it available :)

TRAVEL
There is a bus stop outside our flat and every bus will take you to the centre of Brixton in 4 or 5 minutes. The number 3 takes a scenic route into central London, taking 35-45 minutes to get to Oxford Circus (via landmarks such as Lambeth Palace, over the Thames, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Regent Street).
Brixton tube on the speedy Victoria line is approx. 8 mins walk. It will get you to central London in 15 mins -- and because it's the end of the line, you are guaranteed to get a seat.
Round the corner we're also served by more buses: (phone number hidden). Victoria station with its links to airports is 20-25 mins away.
