ENJOY FINNISH SAUNA AND JAPANESE OFURO 2 PERSON SOAKING TUB - PETS ARE WELCOME

The Pool House has a 50,000 gallon in-ground, unheated, swimming pool open year round with a Finnish sauna and a Japanese Ofuro soaking tub. There is an extensive herb, vegetable, and flower gardens which the guests are encouraged to use, a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and a gas grill for outdoor grilling. Equivalent in size to several hotel rooms there is a master bedroom with a king-size bed, kitchen, sitting area, 2 workspaces with desks. The upstairs has a queen-size futon couch and a twin-size air mattress, a 55" tv and space for family board games. There are two high speed wifi routers positioned at either end of the building.

Well mannered pets are welcome for a fee of $35 per night.

We welcome children, with a high chair and gate for the bottom of the stairs for young children. Please note that there is no barrier at the top of the stairs and while the porch is fenced and gated, there is no fence around the pool, so young children should be closely supervised. We ask that guests let us know the ages of their children to better anticipate their needs.

The Pool House is inspected annually by City Neighborhood Services and the Carbondale Fire Department for health and safety. It passed all of the inspections and has been issued Carbondale Vacation Rental License No. VRU-20-06. Carbondale requires vacation rentals to be sited on the property of the resident homeowner.

Servicios y zonas comunes
Guests have access to the entire Pool House with keyless entry. The kitchen is stocked with herbs, condiments, oils, and other cooking essentials. A full set of tri-ply stainless cookware, baking dishes, and kitchen tools are provided. The pool and extensive gardens are open to guests to enjoy...take a dip and pick some vegetables and herbs for lunch. There is a table and 6 comfy chairs for al fresco dining in the garden.

We provide Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in dispensers in the shower and Molton Brown Black Peppercorn hand wash and lotion in the bathroom basin.

The Pool House is in the centrally located historic Arbor District. Our neighbors are mainly current and retired professors and graduate students at SIUC and professional staff at Memorial Hospital/SIH. This section of Elm Street is probably the sweetest street in Carbondale, with spring-flowering trees and gardens and lots of neighborly interaction.

D. is a retired NY Times photographer, his wife Jane is a retired SIUC professor of anthropology. We love to travel in our restored 1967 Avion truck camper. Airbnb is our goto for other travel, both domestic and internationally. We've stayed at Airbnb in places like Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Istanbul. We're avid cooks with a beautiful kitchen herb and vegetable garden. Our 3/4 acre home teems with birds and furry forest creatures. We enjoy hosting other people, while respecting their privacy. Jane can share her deep knowledge of the history of the region; D. can conjure stories about Washington D.C. - but only on request :-) We seek to provide you the best Airbnb experience you can have in Carbondale.

Your hosts live on the front of the property in a modest 1948 "Cape Cod" style house. We are available for guidance about things to see and do in the region and other information guests may need. Our open kitchen is on the back of the house overlooking the pool, so we are easy to summon when we are home. We have a mini Australian Shepherd named Hula. You'll see her from time to time.
