Oceanfront right in the middle of down town Kailua Kona
The Kona Alii complex is situated in one of the best locations on Alii drive, directly across the street from the Pacific Ocean!
This upgraded 1 bedroom 2 bath unit is located on the third floor with spectacular direct ocean views. Relax with a good book or watch the beautiful sunset from your own private lanai. The large living space includes new furniture with a sofa sleeper for additional sleeping, inside dining table, and a large flat screen TV with an additional TV in the bedroom. AC (ductless splits) units located in both the living room and in the bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked and the second bath offers a walk in shower and also includes a washer and dryer. The nice master suite has a queen bed and shower/tub combo. Enjoy one of the largest pools in Kona at this complex.
Stroll down Alii Drive and you will find a variety of shops and restaurants. Nearby restaurants include Splashers Grill, The Fish Hopper, Huggo's, Don the Beachcomber, Kona Inn Restaurant, Kona Canoe Club, Outback Steakhouse, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Island Lava Java, and Bongo Bens Island Cafe and the list can go on.
But the town of Kailua also "hides" some very important Hawaii Island historic spots. Both the Hulihee Palace and the Ahuena Heiau are located on Alii Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. The Ahuena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by Kamehameha himself and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.
The Kailua Bay pier is a short 10-minute walk, from which most of the boat excursions on the Big Island's west coast depart (snorkel, whale watch, dinner cruise). The pier is the starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (October) and a great place to watch the sunset.
Up the coast is a busy marina with Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, dolphin and whale watching and other ocean activities. This unit is conveniently located, and a great home base to explore the many wonders of the Big Island including Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea Observatory, coffee and macadamia nut farms, artist communities, and more!
