This is a cozy, year-round home in an incredible locale—the community of Ross Ferry on the Bras d'Or Lakes shoreline. Its central location means you're within 90 minutes of just about everything great in Cape Breton—hiking, kayaking, the Cabot Trail, Fortress Louisbourg, the ferry to Newfoundland, Ingonish Beach and world-class golf at Highland Links, Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs.
Here's the straight goods on this house: it's an architecturally designed year-round property that is well-appointed, spacious and comfortable. In some regards, however, it's a little tired—the house has not been updated in just over 20 years. It shows its age in little ways, like kitchen cabinets, counters and fixtures that are starting to look dated and worn. (It's slated for a major renovation in the spring of 2018.)
But it's not all old—the gas stove and other appliances are new, as is much of the contents of the kitchen. There are new place settings and flatware for 12, and the pots and pans are all new. The towels and bed linens are new, as are the two queen beds (the double, while a relic, is still comfortable).
Servicios y zonas comunes
Guests have exclusive access to the home and grounds (the garage, garden shed and chicken coop aren't accessible to guests). The dock and deep-water mooring are seasonal, so please check with the owners if these are amenities you need to access.
If you want to use the fire pit, you'll find that firewood is available at most gas stations and convenience stores.
The propane barbecue is for guests' use.
