Until June 5, we are only available to health care workers. The hangar features a large kitchen, dining area, game area, living room, and a 37' door opens to two outside patios with a fire pit and grill. The Maple Tree Deck, Viewing Deck, 14 acres of meadows and forests are yours. This is a huge inside/outside space with everything you may need. Glamping! Four ski slopes within 45-55 minutes. Hike the ridge or into the Watauga Gorge. Also, see airbnb.com/rooms/8846703 for the house listing.

El espacio
This is a private mountaintop for your gathering. Inside, you will find everything you may need including sleeping in beds for 22 with 12 additional cots with sleeping bags. Outside, you could also pitch tents and bring campers or use one of our tents. ($20 per person; RV hookups for water, electric, septic, $65 per day for two. $20 each additional person.)
We will be happy to discuss your specific needs.
You could also add the house guest suite which sleeps 8-10, go to airbnb.com/rooms/8846703 for a full description and photos. The house suite and hangar are designed to go together for groups or can be rented separately.
One guest showed their fun on "Weekend in the mountains with Nancy and Dale." Check Youtube.

You are invited to enjoy the lawns, meadow, forests, and Watauga River frontage (7 acres). Watauga Lake is a 30-40 minute drive and several marinas rent boats. We are on the TN / NC line on top of Stone Mountain in the Pisgah National Forest and 35 minutes from Boone, NC. The Class IV/VI Watauga River (Watauga Gorge) is 1600 feet in elevation lower than the house.
The home and hangar are located on 14 acres and is also yours to enjoy. Beech Mountain is in our view on the NC side and Sugar Mountain is just behind it. Grandfather Mountain is seen beyond Beech. From the left, you will see Tater Hill and Rich Mountain all the way to Howard's Knob above Boone, then Beech and Roan Mountain. The view on the TN side is of Watauga Lake and Iron Mountain, with the Holsten Mountains of Virginia beyond.

Servicios y zonas comunes
We will assist you in locating lakes, rivers, and waterfalls in the area. If you are interested in pottery and learning how to throw on a wheel or hand build, I will be happy to give you private instruction and provide materials for $30. You may take it with you! Group rates available. (We have a large kiln and will bisque fire, glaze and glaze fire your work then mail it to you for an additional $30.) The view from the studio is the North Carolina view.

Our North Carolina side is in the Pisgah National Forest. The Tennessee side is the Cherokee National Forest with a beautiful trail leading deep into the forest filled with galax, fern, moss, huge towering trees and much more.

If you would like to hike into the Watauga Gorge, I will be happy to guide you. This is a steep incline but it's only a few hundred yards. In the warm months, you will need to be prepared for poison ivy prevention by wearing long pants, long sleeve shirt, high socks, hiking shoes or old tennis shoes, and gloves. There are ropes that will assist with descending and then climbing out of the last 100' to the river. In the spring, summer and fall you may want to swim and enjoy the flumes and waterfalls. Water shoes or old tennis shoes, old cut off jeans make the rocks easier to handle. In the winter you can walk along the banks, see undercuts and huge rock faces as well as seeing the powerful river flumes and falls.
ATV’s
On the mountain top, you may ride our ATV's along the ridge roads. We will ask you to sign a 'Hold Harmless Agreement' for both the gorge hike and the mountain top ATV's. To help with gas and maintenance there is a $25 fee per engine hour time. We also have a UTV (six passengers) for $50 per engine hour.
If you are interested in 'Big Boy toys' Dale will be happy to demo and/or teach you to run his CAT trackhoe for a small 'donation'.

Otros aspectos destacables
Paradise to us is living in nature with the comforts of a home. Every mood is seen from the ridge. Hikers, skiers and kayakers will love this home! You cross the Watauga River's Low Water Bridge on the way to this home. You may know this is a takeout point as well as a put in point for kayakers.

We have a family of six female miniature goats and one male, seven babies that roam the mountain top and return to their Hobbit Goat House for napping several times a day. They are very friendly and curious. If you bring a pet, we will watch to see how everyone gets along and can pen the goats if necessary. (There is a $20 nightly pet charge.)

All of the parcels of land on this ridge are owned by family members (95 acres) & friends (15 acres). Our closest neighbor is a mile away. We are just above Green Valley with families that have been in this area for generations. Many of these neighbors are professionals and have manicured their homes with endless hours of gardening and years of landscaping. We are only 4 miles from the Low Water Bridge on Guy Ford Road that crosses the Watauga River. This is a takeout point as well as a put-in point for kayakers. The Watauga River is a Class IV to VI River depending on rainfall. Boone, NC is 35 minutes away. It is a college town with a historic old downtown and a flair for the arts. Grandfather Mountain, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, the Virginia Creeper Trail, the Appalachian Trail, and many more attractions are within an hour's drive. Don’t miss the original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis only 15 miles away. The Bristol Motor Speedway is 48 miles away, an hour and 15 minutes via scenic mountain roads. The Watauga Winery is just 14 miles. Antique stores and the Old Mill in Trade, TN are 20 miles. Boone with concerts, antiques, local art, and great nightlife is 20 miles.

Nancy taught art for 32 years and Dale taught flying for 25. He owned a flight school/aircraft services company and we are now retired. We have a merger family of seven daughters living throughout the USA. We enjoy visiting them and enjoy their visits even more. They all have husbands and children and that's why we've created a complete living area downstairs. We also have large family reunions so we renovated our 50'x60' airplane hangar and it is perfect for large gatherings! Much of the time these are unoccupied and we want to share them with you. We look forward to meeting you and making new friends!
