I love travelling. Thanks to an aunt who moved to the UK before I was born and lived there all my life I knew, from when I was tiny, that there was "here", and "overseas" and where I wanted to be was "overseas". My fascination with "overseas" continuous unabated and each time I travel I realise how much more there is to see and to experience, not to mention how many places and people there are to revisit, and get to know even better. I do believe that while Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world (yes, really), Johannesburg is the most fascinating. People don't know it well and it can have a bad rep, and so my mission is to connect this fascinating place and its extraordinarily diverse people with anybody even a little curious about it. Our place in Maboneng, now also available to rent on AirBnB, is one way in which we let people access this city of our and its fascinating history. When I'm not living and working in Johannesburg, you'll find me in some other part of my continent or the globe. My big dream at the moment is to do a Buddhist pilgrimage I heard of in Japan in the next few years... and make my way from Buenos Aires up to Bolivia and then on to Peru. So many places so little time... My partner in love and life is the one thing (person!) I can't travel without. We are great travel companions and fellow adventurers. Oh, and perhaps a passport and credit card. Also, a kikoi comes in handy. The rest one can wing. Other favourite places? We were utterly charmed by the Burmese whose nation is trying to find its footing in the world after years of military rule. It certainly has it s problems - in particular the heartbreaking situation of the Rohinga. Non the less, go and visit.
