Higher Lewell Farm House was originally built in the 1760’s and the date can be seen clearly written in brick on the front of the house. The house is situated at the top of Hardys Row on the outskirts of the village backing on to fields. Hardys Row was named after Thomas Hardy's father who built 6 houses on the row to house the poor of the village.

Sophia made us feel incredibly welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The attic space is large and yet cosy and it was nice to have our own suite separate from the rest of the house. Sophia was very relaxed with the children who wanted to spend time with the lovely dogs and cats and was infinitely patient with us all. We will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation was very comfortable with many little thoughtful touches such as bubble bath for the immense roll top bath. Sophia was a great host- very warm and helpful, with a great knowledge of Dorset and even offering to carry our bags up the stairs! We really felt welcomed and looked after. Our children loved the cats and dogs and the location was fantastic for exploring Dorset. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this as a place for others to explore and enjoy Dorset.

Thank you for being such a great host! We had a wonderful few days staying at Sophia's charming farmhouse. We were warmly welcomed into her beautiful home along with our four legged friend! Our attic room was so very comfortable and immaculately turned out. Sophia thought of everything we might need and nothing was too much trouble for her. We were delighted with such a genuine warm friendly cosy place to get away for a few days. Your garden is stunning and it was the perfect place to relax in the morning sunshine surrounded by all your flora and fauna. Our three year old daughter called it 'the cool house' and had an absolute ball! Thanks again, it was just perfect. We will be back.

What can I say? This was our 1st ever Airbnb experience and it couldn't of gotten off to a better start. The accommodation was perfect for our needs, the attic room had plenty of space for us and our two little children. All the animals were so friendly! Lola the Labrador had let my little girl comb her (with mummy's hair brush) and put hair clips on her Finally our host Sophia was just simply amazing. Such a lovely, down to earth person who really did make us feel so welcome. She even lent me her husbands suit belt as I had forgotten mine for the wedding we were attending. Her place is a great place to stay with acres of space, I would highly recommend staying here.

Sophia couldn't have done more to help make our stay everything we could have wanted it to be. Our children were made to feel completely at home (as were we!) and had a lovely time from collecting the chicken eggs to playing with Lola the dog!

My husband Mike and I have lived in Dorset all our lives, both growing up on farms near Dorchester. We moved into the Farmhouse in 2008 and have completely fallen in love with it, the garden and our village. We have been running the B and B since 2011 and really enjoy it. We have met some really lovely people and both love having guests in the house, whether they come for parties, a rest or to explore Dorset. We have 2 very friendly dogs and 3 cats, who all love children, and lots of chickens and ducks. We both love animals, wildlife and nature. Mike is a landscape gardener and tree surgeon, I am studying to be a nutritionist and when I have time I volunteer for the Dorset Wildlife Trust and Compassionate Dorset.
