Located in a farming community a quick and easy 20 minutes south of Albuquerque this 2200 square foot adobe building is filled with New Mexico charm. The large, two story building with its high ceilings and seamless backdrop is often used as a photographer's studio, performance space, mini film stage or just a place to relax and watch the sunset. It has been a filming location for numerous advertisements and film projects including 'America's Most Wanted' and the AMC TV series 'Breaking Bad'.
It is situated behind the owner's 1930's adobe 'homestead' house on a 4 acre, small, working farm. There are sheep, chickens and other animals on the property. Small, friendly dogs on a leash will be considered as potential guests. Please ask first. (We have dogs and cats on the farm as well)
There is a small kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, hotplate, coffee maker and toaster oven. All dishes and utensils are available for use. A highchair and crib are available.
There are two large grocery stores as well as a several restaurant selections 10 minutes south in the town of Los Lunas. Dining options in the village include several standard, fast-food options and 3 regional, New Mexican food choices. Numerous choices are available north 20 minutes into Albuquerque.
The drive to Albuquerque is quick and simple on Interstate 25. Just 10 minutes away there is a station for the new Rail Runner passenger train. (Please note there is no other public transportation available.) Hard Rock Casino/Spa/Concert venue is a quick 10-minute drive. You can get a massage, see a concert and loose your wages all in one beautiful spot! Isleta Pueblo -with a church dating to 1680’s- is a Native American village just 10 minutes away. The Albuquerque Airport is a quick 20 min. drive as is the University of New Mexico and countless museums and galleries. Sandia Peak Ski Area and the Sandia Tramway is within an easy 30-40 minute drive. Our town is almost exactly in the center of New Mexico and is an excellent springboard for all of your site seeing destinations throughout the state.
The community itself is a small farming town with multiple opportunities for outdoor recreation. There are miles of level, off-road cycling and easy hiking trails through the riverside cottonwood forest. (The 'Bosque'). The Rio Grande valley is an important flyway for migrating birds. November through March the area is home to large flocks of sand hill cranes and several types of geese and duck. The village has its own rodeo arena with many events, a public tennis court and playground, a small library, a paved cycling trail and numerous equestrian pathways. There is a large, gated-access locked entry for parking large trailers or RVs.
The sleeping area in the studio is in the upstairs loft and unfortunately is not handicapped accessible. There is a pillow-top king bed with luxury linens, leather couch and TV viewing/sitting area. A twin bed and a double bed is in the great room on the ground floor. (The floor plan is very open but a folding screen can offer more privacy.) The open nature of the space is best suited to family groups or good friends. The loft is accessed by a broad, exterior staircase and an interior spiral staircase. (The loft may not be suitable for adventurous toddlers!)
The building has an upstairs deck with a chairs. It is a suitable spot for stargazing or sunset watching. The downstairs has wrap around porches and is a great place to have happy hour or make a little BBQ.
The downstairs bathroom is fairly basic with a step in shower. (no bath) There are laundry facilities in the owner's home for those on an extended stay.
The quiet tranquility of the site would lull you into deep relaxation if only it weren’t for the rooster crowing. (Sorry! But you don't need an alarm clock at least!) We're certain that you will really enjoy the building and the setting. We have many repeat guests who wouldn't stay anywhere else. Please feel free to request more photos.
