Brand new guest house at the top of Changunarayan ancient temple village near Bhaktapur. We are a short walk from the temple. Our rooms are decorated with original thangka paintings and other Nepali artwork.
North facing, large room on the first floor with a lovely view and private bath. Laxmi is the Hindu goddess who gives prosperity.
This brand new, Cat. 9 earthquake safe, guest house with 24 hour electricity with a new solar water unit with gas water heating back-up to assure you of hot water. We are located right outside the West Gate of the local temple. It is the oldest Hindu temple still actively used in the Nepal. It is like a step back in time.
If you are looking for nightlife of Thamel, this is not for you for two reasons. First, it is a long ride to Thamel, about an hour. Secondly, if you are out that late you would not be able to get a ride home. But if you want a very quiet place where the air is clear and you can almost touch the stars from our rooftop then you will enjoy it. In fact, you would do well to schedule your first night or two here to recover from your trip from the West.

Atención a los huéspedes
I am always happy to help my guests with information about Nepal and have a box full of tourist brochures, maps and movies about Nepal.
I do not have a trekking agency and do not earn any money on my advice except from the sales of my eBook, Nepal: A Tourist's Manual. You can do a search for FrugalTravelsNepal to find my eBook and blog. Both are filled with information to help you get the most out of your time in Nepal.
Although still in the Kathmandu Valley, we are a bit higher in elevation. We have beautiful views and clean air. This is an ancient village. Many of the people do not speak English. The people live and dress as they have for generations. They are very friendly and speak the international language of smiles-even when they do not speak your language.
From Changunarayan Bus Park, there are buses that leave to Bhaktapur every 30 minutes, all day long. From there you can go to Kathmandu or just enjoy this ancient city which is also very beautiful. If you come during a full moon there is usually a festival. Some are not so tourist friendly, but others can be the highpoint of your trip.
We usually go to Kathmandu by car at least once a week. If you are here when we go you are welcome to come along with us.

There is a 300 NPR ($3) admission donation that you have to pay at the entrance of the village in order to get to the guest house. You only have to pay once even if you stay several days. The money collected goes to the local temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We also have a room for your trekking guide. If you come here with a guide he will stay free of charge in a room with an attached bathroom. We also provide dinner and breakfast for him. He will love you!
We mostly serve vegetarian food due to health factors of eating meat in Nepal as we can have a few hours of blackouts each day. Although we have an inverter, a refrigerator could hardly run on it. However, if you really want meat we can comply and buy it at the local market.
Please make sure the water in the bathroom is always turned off after use. When the tank on the roof empties we need to pump it back up so we ask you to use only what you need.
If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask! We are happy to help :)

I'm a retired American expat loving my life in Nepal. You'll love our village. It's above the pollution line of Kathmandu and is only less than an hour away. If you have any problems while you are here just let me know. I'm always happy to help our guests even if it's in the middle of the night.
I have a blog about life in Nepal. You can do a search for it with just Frugal Travels Nepal. People find it quite helpful.
