Otros aspectos destacables

If you will be arriving after dark, it is good to bring a flashlight.
The sleeping loft requires traveling up and down a ladder, which is very sturdy and securely fastened, but is a ladder, not stairs. Guests must be comfortable with this arrangement.
There are some seasonal aspects of this house including that there is no running water during the cold season (drinking and cooking water is provided, and it is usually possible to use a shower in the main retreat building) and the only heat in the house is by a tiny wood stove. Rental of this space in the winter months requires comfort with using a wood stove.
There is no telephone or internet access in the tiny house. Access may be available in the main retreat building via calling card or wifi.
Cell phone use is very spotty and not reliable.
There are no curtains on the windows. We have gotten some feedback from guests that they would have liked for there to have been curtains or blinds, so putting it in the notes here so that it does not come as a surprise.

Ok, if you are or ever were a fan of “Tiny House Nation” and get stoked whenever John Weisbarth gushes about this “craze that’s sweeping the nation” then you’re already prepped to really enjoy this experience and you probably don’t need anything further from me. Just do it . . . you’ll probably love it! If you’re still on the fence however, wondering if spending a few secluded days in a 160 sqft space on a remote mountaintop is for you, then read on. The interior of this Tiny House is craftsman-style with a very functional and relatively spacious kitchen that flows into a cozy dining area with fixed-pew seating and table that can accommodate four. There are a few cabinets, bathroom with composting toilet and shower, a very intimate sleeping loft with queen-sized bedding . . . and that’s about it (did I mention, it’s “tiny”?) The sleeping loft is accessible by ladder only – something that takes some getting used to since headroom up there is only about three feet, and getting on and off the ladder requires dexterity and care. “Tiny” though it is, the main living space is not at all claustrophobic. In fact two adults can work together comfortably in the well-supplied kitchen. The bathroom is right off the kitchen, which you might think would be a problem, but it’s not. Odor is simply not an issue. But the coup-de-gras is the compact wood burning stove that on damp, cool mornings, heats the place quickly and super-efficiently, and, when instructions are carefully followed, imparts the wonderful dry scent of a wood fire without smoking up the interior. The house sits on a trailer that is parked on a grassy lot within a forest alcove. There are no views, except of trees and some very rustic buildings that are part of the sanctuary grounds. The sense of remoteness is palpable. We stayed three nights in September, 2017, and three relatively minor issues deserve a mention: True to the tiny house aesthetic, there are NO window coverings and this IS a retreat grounds where other guests may be roaming about. Also, the screens on the windows are porous enough to admit some gnats at night when the lights are on. Though non-biting, they can be annoying. There is no cell or wifi coverage in the Tiny House. Aravinda (the host) has put together a wonderfully complete guide to living in the Tiny House that also includes things to see and do in the area (if you’re an art lover, don’t miss the Mass MOCA in North Adams, or the Clark Institute in Williamstown, and if you’re a hiker, the nearby Tannery Falls trail is a must-do!) During your stay, I recommend spending at least one afternoon and evening simply “living” in the Tiny House. Prepare a simple dinner of pasta and salad to be enjoyed by candlelight with a good bottle of bordeaux, and notice how dusk brings soft, changing hues and shadows, blending the natural wood...

Great way to try out living in a tiny house. Could you really do without all those extra things we accumulate? It's a cozy, fun, clean, earth friendly choice for getting away from it all. Aravinda was great about communicating and the house had everything we needed and is everything is exactly as described.

This is a perfect spot if you're looking for a quiet, beautiful place to disconnect and recharge in nature. This was our first tiny house experience, and we loved it. The house is very clean and new, and Aravinda and Satyena provided us with thorough, clear instructions about operating the composting toilet and wood stove. Fantastic host experience, gorgeous location in the woods of the Berkshires. Can't wait to return!

Tiny house is as described...lovely and peaceful. It sits among trees and next to some gardens. One can see the other house in the distance, but we never heard anyone. There are nice paths between the woods and the clearing for walking. The property is very close to Savoy State Forest, although it takes a bit longer than expected to get there because some of the roads are in rough shape. A very good place to eat, Cold River Cafe and Restaurant, is a 17 minute drive.

This was such a beautiful and lovely Tiny Home to stay in! The house is exactly as it's described in the listing. It's very clean, excellent efficient use of space. The Sanctuary on which it is located is magical and mysterious and beautiful. As mentioned in the listing there is NO cell service in the area, and no WiFi in the tiny house itself, but there is wifi available in the main house which is just a few steps away from the tiny house. It rained both nights I stayed in the house and it was so romantic and cozy. During the day it was a bit hot and humid but with all the windows open, after the sun went down there was a lovely breeze and it was comfortably cool. I stayed by myself but didn't feel alone, knowing the road was not far away, and Aravinda's very sweet and welcoming mother was in the neighboring house. There was a deer in the grove of trees just outside the house when I came out this morning! Aravinda supplies written out directions to the Tiny house after you book. She wisely advises that you use GPS cautiously, as service up there is minimal no non-existent. I would advise that you completely disregard your GPS and absolutely follow Aravinda's very easy to follow directions. The house is an easy 3 mile jaunt off of Route 2, all on paved road. I needed a place to stay near North Adams for two nights. My boyfriend was supposed to come with me and we chose to stay at the Tiny House as it was close to North Adams and we thought it would be a fun cozy getaway together. He wound up not being able to make it last minute. It wound up being a really lovely, relaxing solo getaway! Thank you Aravinda and your wonderful, sweet Mother for your hospitality!
