Recently refurbished cottage: double with en suite shower room (1st floor) twin and single bedroom rooms plus family bathroom (2nd floor). Spacious lounge/dining room and very small (one person at a time) but well-equipped kitchen (kitchenette).
The cottage is arranged over 3 floors, with steep stairs, also steps leading to entrance. Please note we don't have stair gates or child-safe locks on the windows.
To the side of the cottage (not attached) is a small sunny garden where you can sit outside.

TV with Freeview and catch-up, Wi-Fi, library of books and DVDs, board games.
We supply washing-up liquid, brush and cloth; an iron and tabletop ironing board; two hairdriers as well as handwash in bathrooms and kitchen. We also supply some logs for the stove, to get you going, a further supply can be bought from petrol stations locally. Spare blankets in bedrooms if duvet isn't enough.

Parking is in the road on a first come, first served basis and free of charge. If you can't park close to the cottage, normally other drivers don't mind waiting a minute if you stop to unload your car. You can ignore the double yellow lines in front of our garden as the neighbours do, as they believe the lines are out there in error.

Garden to side of property, not adjoining which has benches to sit on.
If you want to sit outside the door, just bring a couple of dining chairs out.

This is my holiday home, so you probably won't see me. Access is via key kept in a key safe by the door.

A narrow one-way street with a mill pond, quirky Scarthin Books, and the Boat public house where you can find real ales and pub grub. In village is a grocery shop, butchers and delicatessen, newsagents, post office, cafes, chip shop, antique shop and others.
Local walks starting behind cottage, canal path, High Peak Railway Trail, Cromford Arkwright Mill which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Many local places of interest within a short drive e.g. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and heritage steam railways at Matlock and Wirksworth.Gullivers Kingdom, Matlock Bath: family oriented theme park.

Cromford train station is situated about 15 minutes walk from the cottage. Local trains connect with Derby and Nottingham. Local buses to Derby, Wirksworth, Matlock, Bakewell etc.
Cromford is about 30 minutes drive from the M1, either Junction 26 or 28.

Access via key In key safe.
At busy times parking space is at a premium. Parking by railings in Scarthin or in one of 2 places just before cottages, is free. You can stop in the road to unload, and continue down to next road (Water Lane) to park if necessary. Also free parking in Market Place. Please note that the off-road parking nearby is private, so please don't park there.

A couple of years ago we refurbished a cottage in Derbyshire as a holiday home. We're never short of something to do when we're there.
