Respuesta de Adam:
Vanessa – Wow! This is new for me given that I’ve been a longstanding SuperHost with airbnb and the previous 26 guests left outstanding reviews for the bungalow; however, I do take your feedback to heart and will also share my own perspective on things, given that reviews play an important role in potential guests’ decision making process. At the bottom of the bungalow welcome letter, I encouraged you to reach out to me directly to talk through any concerns that you may have. I very much wish that you and your husband opted to do so, as I feel that much of this could have been cleared up had we actually spoken and I had an opportunity to hear the depth of your concerns. Based on our text communication, I had no idea that you were feeling such disappointment in your experience staying at the Bungalow. Firstly, thank you for your honest feedback; I will do my best to address the cons that you refer to in your review. 1. Clutter: yes you are correct the photos aren’t an accurate description of the current layout of the kitchen. I have since purchased a toaster, cutting knives and a new coffee maker for guests to use at their disposal. The printer currently sits on the edge of the counter, but should probably be relocated to open up some space. With respect to the knick-knacks you reference, I definitely see where I can move some things around to open up counter space for the next guest. Cleanliness: You suggest that overall, the apartment was fairly clean but the floors were filthy - corners filled with dust and dog hair and a layer of dirt that turned the bottoms of your feet black. I had the house cleaned the morning of your arrival and as part of the cleaning service; the floors get washed and mopped. I did notice that there was dust and dog hairs in the corners that could use more attention. Perhaps the floors got dirty over the period of your 12-day stay. I’m not sure how else to account for this, as I do live close to the beach and with doors and windows open, dust collects on the floors over time. To be honest, I walk around my house in bare feet all the time and have never had a problem with my feet turning black. I will, however, certainly discuss this information with my cleaner prior to the next airbnb guest. You mentioned that there was a strong, musty odor in the bathroom so you always kept the door closed. Please know that part of the cleaning service includes a heavy cleaning of the bathroom. The musty odor could have been coming from the bathroom or possibly from being near the beach. I will speak to the cleaning team regarding this issue as well. You said that overall I seem like a nice person but there were two incidents that disappointed you. One being that you felt I didn’t apologize for my neighbor swinging by unannounced and the other, my lack of an adequate response due to a rodent being discovered in the house. I’m sorry that you felt disappointed with my response; I honestly felt like I shared with you that I was not pleased with my neighbor’s decision to swing by unannounced and called him immediately after you texted me to ask him to apologize to you directly. With respect to the rodent, I also felt that I shared my condolences with you by saying, “I’m sorry the critter showed up. I hope he wasn’t a huge hindrance. Thank you for bringing it to my attention” Per your reference to your cousin’s experience, I would have been more than happy to discuss compensation had the depth of your displeasure been shared with me. Again, I feel that a lot of things got lost in translation due to text only communication. Thank you again for your feedback. All the best.
