This property was beautiful. We didn't realise when we booked it that it was situated on such a large farm. The hosts allowed us to roam around the farm (200 acres). We discovered their two swimming lakes and kayaked on one of them. We passed through paddocks and admired the land and cows. We also sat on the lake near the Japanese teahouse, which was beautiful and peaceful. The house itself is beautiful. It was spotless and modern, with an extremely comfortable bed, a great bath and the fluffiest bathrobes. The view was also lovely. The hosts gave us lots of wonderful, complimentary food, including fresh bread, fresh eggs, tomatoes, milk, juice, homemade cookies and chocolate. They also let us go into their veggie patch and pick ourselves some veggies! The only downside was the "rural" location of the farm (which is obvious) but there are many gravel roads you must take in order to get to the farm and for city folk it is not great for 2-wheel-drive cars... so just be careful. Also if you are after shops that are open at night, the closest are a little far away so try to buy food before you come! The hot plate also didn't work for us but we made do by using the BBQ. Lastly, it was unfortunate the check-in is so late and the check-out is so early. For the price, we would have liked to have been able to enjoy some more time there. Overall an incredible time and we will be back again!

Respuesta de Brett:
Stephanie, Thank you for staying with us and providing your detailed overview of the property. Below, we have attempted to address your comments With regard to the gravel roads, unfortunately we country folk have to accept them. We had a significant rain event last week that impacted on the condition of the roads. We all drive 2 wheel drive vehicles and have no problems. Yes we are in a rural environment, with our nearest convenience store in Deans Marsh, approx 10 mins drive (closing at 6pm), hence we provide produce and groceries for your stay. We tested the convection cook top and it is indeed functional, we failed to provide a demonstration of how to operate it, this will be addressed. There are instructions in the Compendium on how to operate it. After checking around, it seems our in and out times are normal. We do however endeavor to accommodate guests with early check in's or late check outs if possible. Hope this addresses your concerns. Best Wishes, Christine and Brett.

Amazing stay on a spectacular location. Watched the sun set and rise over scenic, rolling hills, while the cows grazed just meters away from you. Brett's 3 dogs were lovely and adorable companions through out our stay as well.

From the welcome at the front gate to showing us the property Brett and Christine were phenomenal. From fresh flowers on the table to print outs of weather forecast, maps of the local area and plenty of tips of where to explore not to mention also stocking us with amazing home made biscuits, these two really know how to host We sat and soaked up the sweeping views over the hills as the sun went down with a bottle of local red and let the world float by. Truly and incredible spot to escape the world and to unwind, our only regret is that we weren't here longer !!

Amazing place. Location is more remote than expected but it all adds to the idea of a far away retreat! Pictures are accurate. Once there you just disconnect and are able to fully relax. Plenty of wildlife surrounds you and the apartment is fully equipped with everything you need. We came a little unprepared ... didn't have anything to prepare food but owner gave us some eggs, bacon and cheese and we had the best evening ever with just a simple meal thrown together. Only regret is not staying there any longer. Thoroughly recommend!

I am a keen student of the Natural Environment, trying to preserve and recreate our natural environment. We live on a 200 acre farm and planted over 65,000 native trees.
We grow all our own organic fruit and vegetables, love our geese and free range chickens and of course our two dogs.
I love walking into the Great Otway National Park and I enjoy cooking our own food and travel.
