Hollerich is located very close to Central Train Station. You will find many restaurants from all over the world in the neighborhood.



The main advantages of this neighbourhood are :

- its residential feel;
- Merl Park;
- its proximity to the city centre and Luxembourg Train Station,
- the nearby P+R Bouillon, to the south.

Hollerich has a surface area of 160.01 hectares and is located in the south of the capital. It borders

- Belair and Ville-Haute to the north;
- the Gare district to the east;
- Gasperich and Cessange to the south; and
- Merl to the west.

The former parish of Hollerich is mentioned as far back as the 10th century. In the Middle Ages, this area consisted of farms, stone quarries and lime kilns, which delivered their products to the nearby city and Fortress of Luxembourg.

Very soon, small manufacturing sites popped up here. After Hollerich was connected to the Luxembourg railway network and its first train station was opened in 1859, industry and trade prospered in this neighbourhood.

The population doubled very quickly and by the end of the 19th century, Hollerich had become one of the most dynamic municipalities in the country.

In 1920, the former municipality of Hollerich was merged with Luxembourg City.
