Our modern Eco Pod is set in it's own secluded wildlife garden area, giving a true nature experience with all the comforts for 2 people. Only 5 mins drive from Shaftesbury, Dorset, and 50 minutes from the Jurassic Coast. Superb country walks! It's normally set up with a king size bed.

The Pod is tiny. Think of it as a two berth wooden caravan. It really just has the large bed, there is no table on the inside, but a small kitchen area with sink and hob.

El espacio
The Pod is a small compact space built as an airtight structure that self regulates temperature and therefore is very comfortable. It's ideal for couples, close friends or one parent and child. It features a large bed (1.80m x 2.20) under a sloping ceiling, a small kitchenette with 2 burner hob and sink with hot & cold water. Please note that there is no table inside. There is literally just the bed and kitchenette.
The kitchen is equipped with all essentials including kettle and toaster. You will also find Organic English Breakfast Tea, Organic Coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. There is decking on the outside which gets sunshine most of the day (when the sun shines). A few steps up is a Gazebo with a table and 2 chairs. This is a great space to have an al-fresco meal and watch the wildlife around the pond.

There is a small cubicle with a compost toilet inside the Pod. Some people have commented that it is too small for a tall person to have the door closed. Please keep this in mind.
Guests also have use of the separate unheated shower shed with hot water.
Please note that during the Winter and early Spring the shower shed is not operating. In that case guests are welcome to use the shower in the main house.

There is a summer house that houses a fridge freezer, a small oven, two camping chairs and space to store luggage or wet clothing/shoes.

The Pod sits in it's own part of the garden, with 2 wildlife ponds. This creates a lovely, secluded garden area for our guests. You basically have your own little wildlife patch here. Ducks often visit the pond early in the morning. Look out for deer, badgers and pheasants.

Because of the ponds our grounds are not suitable for small children.

Servicios y zonas comunes
The Gazebo: A perfect place for a late evening drink, to eat alfresco and watch the wildlife on the pond.

The Summerhouse: A place to store wet wellies, and dry wet coats and towels. Here you will also find a full size fridge freezer, a mini oven/grill. And a bin.

The Shower Shed: A place to have a well deserved hot shower after a long day out. (please note, that the shower shed is not heated and we don't run it in the winter. The water either doesn't get warm enough or there is a risk of the pipes freezing. If this is the case, we offer guests use of the shower in the main house.)

Fire basket: You're welcome to use the fire basket, but please bring your own wood. Do NOT use the fire basket on any of the wooden decked areas to avoid risk of fire and burning. Please dispose of any cold ash in the fenced in areas behind the fencing screens at the bottom of the pond.

Otros aspectos destacables
Please be aware that the pod has it's own indoor compost toilet with just a kind of wardrobe door. This is a modern, hygienic, non-smelling eco-toilet, which simply requires a bit of getting used to. Please pay attention to the instructions posted in the toilet room. Some people have commented that the space is very small when the door is closed for tall people and that it doesn't provide enough privacy.
It is essential for the compost toilet to function well, that liquids of any kind are kept out of the bucket. Guys, please sit down! Water or urine in the bucket really means we can’t compost the content. Sorry we have to say this, but if this happens it may affect your ‘house rules’ rating.

The shower shed is unheated and the shower can't be run if temperatures are freezing. In that case guests are welcome to use the shower in the main house.

WIFI: There is no WIFI at the pod, but the mobile signal is good on most networks. It can vary a bit depending on weather.

Please note that we are an eco-property. We save energy wherever we can, all cleaning materials are eco-friendly and we don't use any chemicals inside the house or in the garden. This has a few consequences you may want to know before renting:
1. Our towels and bedding are air-dried. We don't use fabric softener or a tumble driers, which means towels may not be as soft as you might expect. We only iron the pillow cases, not the sheets.
2. We have an abundance of wild life, including insects. Spiders are an important part of this eco-system and keep other bugs at bay. We therefore do not kill spiders, but will remove them from the Pod before guests arrive. However, they are quick to move back in and rebuild their webs within hours. If you find a spider or spiderwebs in the Pod, it is not a sign of lack of cleanliness, but something that just happens in an environmentally friendly home in the woods. Furthermore, wasps may feed on the untreated cedar cladding on the outside, colonies of ladybirds may hibernate in the door frame in the winter.

Shaftesbury, Dorset, Reino Unido

The Pod is located in a small hamlet 1.5miles outside Shaftesbury, Dorset on the edge of ancient woodland. This is a quiet area and the most you will hear is the occasional dog barking, lawnmower or strimmer. However, don't be surprised to be woken by birdsong and to hear owls and other creatures at night.

The local village store 'Ludwell Store and Postoffice' is approximately 1.5miles away and can be reached by foot, car or bicycle. The nearest pub is half a mile and the nearest supermarket 1.5 miles.

My husband, Neil and I have a passion for wildlife and eco-friendly living and this is what we would like to share with our visitors through making our annex studio for 2 available. We like simplicity but comfort when we travel and hope that you will find the same when staying at the Coppice Studio Retreat. I am a health & raw nutrition coach, and Neil is a photographer and Kundalini Yoga teacher. We like to get to know our guests and are happy to help where ever we can. But if you prefer to be left alone, we'll be happy to do that too.
