The Hut is the latest reincarnation of an old recycled building shifted onto the land here at Waiora Gardens in the 1980's.
It resembles an old fashioned Bach as they used to be years ago.... slightly rough around the edges but full of character!
It has been lavishly decorated to reflect the swinging 60's and now provides a unique magical airbnb experience.

El espacio
Nestled in the rugged hills above the historic Hokianga Harbour rests the hidden Nature sanctuary of "Waiora Gardens" where the "Hippy Hut" lives......
Journey along the old forgotten pioneer wagon trail now Paponga Road. A perfect stopover between the Waipoua Kauri Forest and Cape Reinga to relax and recharge.
The large farmhouse kitchen next to the hut make mealtimes a pleasure. Relax in the quirky communal lounge, browse the extensive library or for kids there is a large play area with toys.
No cellphone signal can reach and there is no WiFi here. The only sounds at night are the rustling in the trees, a morepok or two and maybe a distant Kiwi....a restful night is assured!

Servicios y zonas comunes
Guests are welcome to use the common shared kitchen in the large main house .
Another large studio called the "Whale lodge" across the Green is available for Yoga, Reading, Massage, Exercise, table tennis and movie watching.
The main composting toilet is a short stroll through a subtropical planting and designed to be aligned with Waiora Gardens philosophy of sustainable living.
For your convenience, there is also a composting toilet in the hippy hut bathroom .
We have 2 large friendly dogs that roam freely here. Please do not stay here if you are scared of dogs.

Kohukohu, Northland, Nueva Zelanda

We are 10 mins from the local ferry that crosses the harbour from Kohukohu to Rawene, which is on the twin coast discovery highway.
Kohukohu is a tiny historic village, with a local shop, pub, cafe and art galleries to peruse.
Rawene is a little bigger, well worth a visit and the nearest fuel station for those running short!
From Rawene its only 20 mins to beautiful Opononi beach and the golden sand hills.
There are plenty of other hidden delights in this wild and rugged land, just ask us!
