WIFI code to be provided on arrival:
Directions from Surbiton station (overground service to Waterloo, can be supplied when you book.

Rules of the house.

No smoking.
Please keep the wooden fire doors closed, particularly the one into the sitting room kitchen area. Always lock the two back doors (off the conservatory) when you go out. Do not assume others in the house will do so. Also, kindly shut the outer door to the garden, this can stick but normally works with a bit of patience) and close the curtains.
Please hoover your room.
Please be quieter in the evening - everyone in the house has a job
so we normally keep regular hours.
Points to note.
Our lovely Couch Surfers are not given keys - so check when I am leaving and returning and I will open the door on your return.
For permanent guests and Air bnb guests and myself. The green front door is a bit 'sticky'. When you first get a key please ask for a demo on how to open the door - making sure you go through the process yourself and do not just observe someone else showing you.
Should you get locked out, our neighbours have a spare key (Tony and Hayley and also Chris who works for them). If they are out you could go to my close friends Paul and Laura on the other side of Kingston (half an hour on two buses starting from Surbiton station, then changing at Kingston Bus station and catching the 65 which takes you near to their house. You must ring ahead.
Please return the key at the end of your stay.

When using the shower, please make sure you use the grey and turquoise blue squeegee mop afterwards to wipe the moisture off the tiles and the inner shower door and put it back - it is kept above the shower head.
It has an electric shower. Again please use the squeegee mop after use. There is also a heated towel rail in this bathroom. Please open the smaller window to air after use. If you need a towel there should be one in the wicker chest outside the bathroom on the first floor.

Please note that a red fire blanket is kept in the kitchen on the microwave oven should there be a fire. Open the packet and smother the fire with the blanket.
There are smoke alarms in the house - if these go off they should re-set themselves.

Please feel free to enjoy the garden. There is a ramp outside the back door down into the garden. There are garden chairs in the green plastic cabinet at the end of the garden in the left. Please put them away at the end of the day or if it looks like rain. The greenhouse is work in progress - please do not use it. Do not drink from the rain butt - it has been home to tiny tadpoles!
There are lots of lovely places to go locally and I would imagine the residents will let you know what these are. The houses faces west and overlooks Home Park where Hampton Court Palace is situated (the Palace can be seen at night or in the winter when the trees are bare). There is a very pleasant walk into Kingston along the river (turn right out of front door, walk down to and cross the zebra crossing and walk into Queens Promenade.
Please note - the front 'drive' can get icy in winter.
Surbiton has lots of cafes - the cafe opposite the main Sainsburys supermarket on Victoria Road is nice and is near to the independent Regency Bookshop. Up St Marks Hill is the Pickled Pantry and there's an excellent fish and chips shop on the Brighton Road .
The nearest cashpoint machine is near to Surbiton station - at the Lloyds bank and others nearby. There's a post office on the main Surbiton Victoria Road for stamps etc.
There's a Londis convenience shop on Maple Road - 5 mins walk for milk or food you need if you have forgotten an item. Nearby is the Antelope pub which has its own brewery and beer festival in September.
A little bit further towards Richmond, along the river, there’s Ham
House which is a NationalTrust property.
Have a lovely stay,

I have been described by my friends as having integrity and grit. That's quite a lot to live up to. I love reading, cycling and watching films. I am a bit of a foodie and there's normally something nice being whipped up in the kitchen. I am a published author and am now working on a new idea with my writing partner.
