We are: family of 5 with kids of 6 -8 -11.
Very nice, spatious and clean appartment. Right between old and new quarters of Bilbao. Looks out on the river with the old quarter behind it, so you are right next to the action (shops, bars, market, metro, tram line, tourist information, ...) without being in (or above) the night life noise.
Underground parking spot had plenty of room even for our big car (Volvo V70 estate). Driving down in the garage is a little narrow though.
Warm welcome by Miren who was also available later for questions via phone (or text message). She's a very enjoyable host.
Bilbao is a top destination. We had planned to drive into the Rioja region and other cities (Santander, San Sebastian) but ended up spending the entire week in Bilbao. Car stayed in the parking except for drive around Gernika - San Juan de Gatztelugatxe - Bakio (very nice Txakoli wine museum). Coast is easily reached via metro. Walk along the cliffy coast from Getxo to the Gorrondatxe beach is worth a special mention. We walked there, spent the afternoon on the beach and took the metro back.
This is apart from the typical must-sees, of course. Guggenheim could very well be the nicest building of the world! Funicular de Artxanda. Puente Colgante. Museum of Fine Arts. Athletic Club. ...
Highlight of our stay - for me - were the pintxos though. Each bar's counter is a delight. We ended up almost every night in one or more different bars for our diner. So delicious!
