Dip your toes into the rural 1950's with a stay in our comfy, fully refurbished, airfloat caravan.
Set in its own private garden with bbq area , outdoor fire pit and dining table.

This is a really unusual caravan that we imported from the States a few years ago and have tastefully restored. We moved on to our land in it 3 years ago - now its the home of my daughter though she is away for a while so I'm taking advantage!
It is a vintage ( 1957) Airfloat - a rival to the more common 'Airstream'. 1957 was their 25th year of production so all their trailers made that year were anodised in GOLD!!
It has a large (for a caravan) bedroom at one end with shower and basin but it has a dividing door and also a double sofabed at the other end if you need to sleep kids - or have had a row!
The toilet is a short,OUTSIDE walk away and we also have another, larger shower available.
PLEASE NOTE
From June - September it is offered on a 2 nightly basis .
Book for 3 nights and recieve a complimentary £5.00 beer token to use in our local pub 'the York inn' as a thank you and a 50 p voucher to spend in the local farm shop...I know! woo!
Book for 4 or 5 days and get the 5th or 6 th day for free,-contact me and I 'll adjust the price.
20% discount if you book for 7 nights - the price will be automatically be adjusted by airbnb .
On one or 2 Sunday's each month our local banger racing stadium in Smeatharpe hosts a demolition derby or banger racing. Depending on which way the wind is blowing sometimes you can hear the cars. Not one of my guests has ever complained about this - some even go to the races, but I always feel bad about the disruption to our normally tranquil setting - so I have decided on race days to knock £10 off the price of your stay - . Look out for those discounted days!
Children aged 5 and under are free so don't include them in the booking - but do tell me in a message!

Guests can access our iPod docking station,DVD player, dvd collection, books and games.
We also have table football, table tennis, a small pool table , a paddling pool and kids ride on toys available on request.
We now have wifi ( or ethernet) internet available IN the caravan and also a computer and printer you can use in the office if you dont want to bring one.
Dogs sadly are no longer welcomed unless they ve been before or have a proven track record with farm animals...we had a couple of incidents last year that I wouldnt want repeated.
Children 5 and under stay for free

We will be on the premises at all times but live round the corner so you can have as much privacy as you require...our dogs and cats are not so good at recognising private space but they are pretty bomb proof and can mostly be kept out your way. Newsflash!.... They've been getting rather spoilt by our guests and now assume you're all new best friends. If you're nervous of dogs please let me know and i can make an extra effort to stop them disturbing you.
We have 'things to do' leaflets ,maps , binoculars and guide books and can give helpful advice regarding local exploration.

We are right on the Somerset/Devon / Dorset border in an area of outstanding natural beauty known as 'the Blackdown hills' . We're right on top of the hill so it can be a bit windswept in the winter but you get lovely skies if its clear. The location is very peaceful but not so remote that you cant access a shop within 10 mins ....and our mobiles mostly work!
Taunton, Honiton,Wellington and Chard are all 8 miles from us. Lyme regis and Bridport 20 miles, Exeter 25 miles and Bristol 50 miles.

You need a car to get here though we would consider collecting you from either Taunton or Honiton as they are both serviced by regular trains.
Once you're here though you'd need a bike if you wanted to get further than a few fields away! ( we have ones you can borrow but they're not very flashy!). The village of Churchinford , with a good pub, shop and cafe is just over a mile away and an easy walk .

Children 5 and under stay for free. Please let me know they're coming though .

Remember to let me know if anyone in your party is scared of dogs. Our dogs ( we have 3 ) are very friendly but i know they're not everyones cup of tea and can get over enthusiastic on first greet !

We provide complimentary breakfast of tea, filter coffee, orange juice, free range eggs, beans, cereal, toast and a selection of local jams and honeys though you are expected to cook it yourself!

Wood is provided for the woodburner or outside fire and we will light it for you if you prefer.

The BBQ is available for use but you need to bring your own BBQ charcoal- it can be purchased at the local shop.

Barrio muy tranquilo, nos recibio por la noche sin problema, nos mostro todo, es muy bonita la caravana y muy cuidada y decorada. Tiene unos perros muy simpaticos y otros animales divertidos!

Our stay at the caravan was amazing! It's literally the coolest place I've ever stayed. The setting is idyllic and all the animals are super friendly. The caravan was really cozy and the bed nice and comfy. Everything you could possibly need is in the caravan. Clare and all were lovely and friendly, we couldn't have had a better stay! Thanks so much Clare!

Clare is a great host, very friendly, hospitable, and helpful. Our boys loved the animals and the freedom to pet them. Clare was lovely with them, putting up with their endless questions. We had a great few days away!

Clares Airfloat is a little slice of the 1950s and well worth a visit. The farm is off the beaten track but only 5 minutes drive or a longer walk to a well stocked village/farm shop with a coffee shop attached. Clare though had stocked the Airfloat full of everything you could ever need, cereal, milk, bread, butter, jams, even oil, flour and pasta! Clare even has toiletries, a first aid kit, books and games. The property has pigs, chickens, dogs, cats and sheep which are all very friendly. We were encouraged to feed the pigs and chickens and could even collect fresh eggs for our breakfast. Clare was an amazing host and she went over and above the norm to make us feel welcome.

Clare is very friendly and welcoming. The caravan is much bigger and is very well equipped! Loved the touch of fresh eggs, milk, bread & jams. Really made it feel homely. Really enjoyed our stay & it helped that the weather was on our side so we got to enjoy the outdoors! Would certainly recommend to anyone that wants something a little different but interesting! X

My husband and I recently moved to the countryside from Brighton so we're still at the beginning of our 10 year build plan!.....come back in 5 years and you won't recognise the place!
We're both very practical and hands on and do all the work ourselves though I have to give my youngest daughter some credit for the gardening and animal husbandry.
We're relaxed and easy to get on (URL HIDDEN) husband is passionate about war time memorabelia, steam trains and old vehicles ( motorbikes and trucks mostly) though I ll try n get him to keep the engine revving to a minimum whilst you're here.
I like chatting about just about anything but have a particular interest in the theatre, arts and travel.

Today's motto (since you asked!) is;-
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to (URL HIDDEN) learning to dance in the rain.
(These are 'the Blackdown hills' - you ARE going to get wet!)
