Great location. Far from some things but close to many others. Other than taking the tram to and from Centraal Station, my husband and I walked and rented bikes to traverse the city -- there's a nearby place Tom and his neighbor Elza recommended in Heinekenplein that was 13 Euros/day for bike rental. Plus, really, what's better than having a daily street market outside your doorstep? The Albert Cuypmarket was one of our favorite things about our time in Amsterdam.
The apartment itself was just as described. Spacious with lovely, thoughtful decor. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine in the morning. We were excited for the terrace but didn't end up using it because of the temperature. The large windows in the living and bed rooms were beautiful. The bed itself was very comfortable. Being able to do laundry was a huge asset.
Tom is very thorough and both emailed an incredibly detailed 16 page guide with friends' contact info, emergency info, general info on the Amsterdam neighborhoods and restaurant and attraction recommendations within them, appliance instructions, etc. ahead of time, as well as printed and left a copy in the apartment. This was my husband and I's first Airbnb experience and that kind of personal touch and suggestions from a local was exactly what we were hoping for.
Thank you for the great experience, Tom. Though we never met you, your friend Elza was lovely and very hospitable in your absence. If we return to Amsterdam, we hope to use your place as our vantage point again.
