This was my first time booking with airbnb so I was a little nervous but was quickly relieved by how great Mark's place was. He took great care of us, leaving toiletries and all the extra stuff you may have forgotten to pack. Complimentary wine and coffee, he even left us chocolates. The apartment felt homey yet sophisticated- a bit of a walk up, but it wasn't bad at all, I've dealt with worse. It was a 10-20 minute walk to a couple of great vegan restaurants, which is amazing. And obviously a bunch of other restaurants if you aren't vegan. I wish public transit would have been a little more convenient but that's only because we weren't able to take the L to where we were going. But the blue line is very close as well as some bus stops. All in all: 10/10 would recommend.

Mark's place is a third floor walk-up in a gray stone building. The entrance is at the side of the building and is well-lit and secure. We stayed three nights and got a good feel for the place. The most attractive feature of the apartment are three big bay windows which look out into the canopy of large walnut trees. These windows light up the living room and provide a constant delight to the eye on a windy day as the leaves and branches bounce and dance, it's as if you're in a tree house. Mark very graciously provided a bottle of Merlot on the kitchen counter and a quart of 2% milk in the otherwise nearly empty stainless steel refrigerator. It made us feel well cared for. The living room book shelf has a large selection of games -- board games, cards, etc. , and numerous international travel books. There is also a large flat screen TV with every conceivable type of programing: Netflix, Show Time, movie channels, sports channels, etc., and instructions on how to work the remotes. We never met Mark face-to-face, but he provided plenty of information to get us in and out of his place easily. There was an extensive house manual with recommendations for everything from how to work the coffee maker, to his favorite restaurants in the area.

Mark is a great host and communicated well. Although we did not meet in person, he kept in touch to ensure our needs were met. His place is a great part of Chicago. Quiet, but within walking distance to Bucktown and Logan Square. It is also close to the Blue Line for days you want to get into the city. Highly recommend!

Mark is a wonderful host. He was communicative before my trip and answered questions quickly. He really goes above and beyond to make his guests happy and give them a good experience, and even checked in during my stay to make sure everything was good. The apartment is very cool - streaming on the apple tv was really nice after a long day, and he even has one of those (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) things you can talk to and ask questions! The space was also clean and had a lot of nice sunlight during the day. Accessing the building and getting places was easy too - it's about a 10 minute walk to the el and uber cars arrive in under 5 minutes. The bed was very comfortable, as was the new air mattress. We enjoyed having use of the kitchen and fridge for making and storing late night snacks! 10 out of 10 recommend marks space. He's a chill guy and I'll definitely stay here again!

Nice, clean, and comfortable. Just a few minute walk to the "L" and right on the 606. Netflix was nice to wind down from a day of walking around the city. You can even make coffee 3 or 4 different ways. He even provided a binder full of activities and resources. Recommend.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Mark and I am a Chicago native. I have lived in a number of neighborhoods in the city and have many recommendations on restaurants, culture and nightlife here. When I am not traveling, I teach digital art at two colleges in downtown Chicago and consult with artists and museums around the world on projects. As a traveler myself, I understand what guests are looking for in their accommodations and experiences in new cities. If you have any questions regarding my place, your stay, or Chicago, please feel free to send me a message.
Safe travels!
