A unique 100+ year old modernized cabin in the NE Alberta Arts neighborhood of Portland. Hand crafted inside and out. Cozy, quaint, relaxing, and unique -- with walking access to dozens of shops, restaurants, parks, and bars.

Updated inside and out with years of hard work and creativity. This home offers the feeling of being in a super nice cabin in the forest but with a location walking distance from Alberta Street shops, restaurants, and a short bike or drive to downtown. A wood lover's dream.

Lined with natural and reclaimed wood inside and out. Hardwood floors, tongue and groove ceilings and walls, custom cabinets and shelving, high end kitchen appliances, butcher block, steel, and concrete counters, farmhouse sink, custom light fixtures and hand built furniture, large private back yard, front and rear porches.

All kitchen cooking essentials, blankets, AppleTV, Sonos Soundsystem, books, bathroom essentials. The kitchen has a nice gas/convection combo oven and gas range. There are pots, pans, utensils, dutch ovens, cast iron pans, baking sheets, casserole dishes, coffee french press, pour over, and tea baskets. No microwave, sorry.

The bedroom has a hand crafted King Size bed that sleeps two on a cozy Casper mattress with down comforter, fresh linens, and pillows. There is a window unit Air Conditioner in the summer. There is a small room adjacent for storing luggage.

As much as possible.

The neighborhood is just a few blocks walking from the Alberta Arts district with tons of great restaurants, shops, and bars. Not far from parks, public transit, and easy access to the airport, downtown, and interstates connecting to the great outdoors. Head south on a stroll to the Alameda Ridge and Irvington neighborhoods to see some of Portland's oldest and most beautiful homes amongst old growth tree lined streets. My home is 50 feet from Going Street, NE Portland's busiest bike boulevard with bike route connections to all other destinations in town. Bike commute time to downtown is about 10-15 minutes.

Access to main bus routes with connections to MAX, the Airport, and the Amtrak Train Station.

Walking distance to many amazing restaurants, shops, and bars.

Off a main bike boulevard with quick connections to all parts of the city.

Please be careful going up and down the stairs, they are quite narrow and steep. Also - mind your head in the bedrooms, they are in the attic and have sloped ceilings. If water leaks out of the shower, please make sure the curtain is all the way closed. Please use the garden hose to put out the fire if you use the fire pit.

Please respect the home, neighbors, and my personal belongings. Yes -- there's Whiskey, Wine, Beer and other spirits about, but please BYOB, unless stated otherwise.

No smoking.

Keep noise down after 10 pm, no parties, and no smoking please.

Also, I know it's a pain in the butt, but if you're willing, I would appreciate shoes to be taken off inside the home--hardwood floors require a lot of maintenance :)

Lastly, be mindful that the home is over 100 years old and so are some of the doors and fixtures. Please be gentle.

Thank you and have a really nice time!

Tom's City Cabin is a great place to enjoy Portland. The house is full of super interesting details and it's less than a five minute walk to all the good food and drink on Alberta. Definitely recommended.

Tom was quick to respond to all our questions and flexible with arrival/checkout times. His place is meticulously clean. The upstairs was very hot when we were there, but that was because of freakish summer temperatures. Tom has created a soothing oasis in the city.

Staying at Tom's was a perfect Portland experience. He was easy to communicate with, the location is excellent--allowing our family to have a "live like a local" experience--walking to dinners on beautiful warm Portland summer evenings. Extra style points for Tom's super hip and comfortable 2 bedroom cabin!
