This listing is for the upstairs unit of The Purple Orchid, and this stunning home is located in Esplanade Ridge, one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city (in my completely unbiased opinion of course, but I do think reviews speak for themselves!).
This home features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, hardwood floors, a fully functional kitchen, a laundry room, LOTS of artwork, central air and heat, off street parking and over 2000 square feet of living space in this upstairs unit alone. The location, artwork and architecture are really what set this place apart. The streetcar is a pleasant 5 to 10 minute walk down Esplanade Avenue from the home, and there is a bus stop just a couple blocks away that will take you straight to the French Quarter. Also within walking distance are a number of great small restaurants, a coffee shop, small market, wine shop and again, all surrounded by beautiful architecture and 100+ year old live oaks.
PLEASE NOTE, this is a quiet residential neighborhood and not a home for parties or large gatherings of any sort (outside visitors/ guests MUST be approved prior to booking). Also because the owners do not want too much foot traffic gathered in either the upstairs unit or the downstairs unit, we do not rent out the whole home (upstairs and down) to the same group.
Also, guest comfort is a top priority for us, and with this being the upstairs unit, there will be guests below you as well. We do ask that you be considerate and keep volume to a reasonable level, especially in the evenings, and we ask the same from the downstairs group as well.

I like to let guests decide how much privacy they want when they visit. I do like to greet you whenever possible and make sure you're settled, but we do have a lockbox for late arrivals or if I'm at work. I'm always available and if you have questions, always feel free to contact me.

Really, common courtesy is the biggest rule and most guests are pretty great, but having done this for awhile now, there are a few things that are very important to me as a host that I kindly ask you to be aware of:
1) No outside guests, including visitors. We have a maximum of 6 people
2) No smoking inside
3) No drugs
4) No pets
5) There is no daily housekeeping service; fresh linens and towels are included but a daily maid service is not.
6) Please contact me a day or two before arrival to confirm ETA and keys, and to make sure I'll be there to greet you.
7)Understand that sometimes I will not be available to greet you as I have other obligations to attend to. In those scenarios, I will make sure you are able to get into the house without any problems.
8) Keys must be returned upon departure; failure to do so will result in a $100 fee to get both locks changed.
9) Guest agrees not to download any unlawful content while using the host's wifi.
10) Homeowner is not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occur while on premises or its facilities.
11) Please respect noise and foot-traffic levels at night so other neighbors do not get upset.
12)Checkout is 11:00AM. If flexibility is needed, please let host know in advance.
This may be the most important "rule" and I have therefore made it number one, and it has yet to happen with the numerous guests I've hosted, but please be aware that by accepting this booking you agree that as a host, I have the right to ask you to leave if I am in any way uncomfortable with your being here. If I do this, I will offer you a full refund for the remaining time of your stay and will aid you if asked in finding new accommodations, but by accepting this booking, you agree to vacate the premises promptly if so requested. (I've learned with just a couple bad experiences that this is an all-too-important clause that would have saved me a lot of headache in the past had I included it).

I've become something of an AirBnB veteran now with over a year's time hosting people and it's been a truly wonderful experience, one that's allowed me meet some great people and see the world just a little differently. I'm someone who loves to meet new faces from all walks of life, and as an avid traveler myself I can share a lot of my travel experiences as well as my expertise on the great city of New Orleans. And I have lived here for over half my life, so I have plenty to share! Some of the things I love to do include reading, art, health, cooking and as mentioned, meeting new people.
Also, until very recently I have been career student and I've done a little of everything from interpreting and painting to landscaping and interior design. With my diverse background and all the rental activity I've seen, I decided to become a licensed realtor and have never looked back since!
