Ubicación

Nueva Orleans, Luisiana, Estados Unidos

This property is close to everything (quick walk to Magazine Street, easy bike ride to the French Quarter or Freret, and an inexpensive Uber to Marigny).

At the same time, you never forget that you’re in the middle of a beautiful, historic, residential neighborhood. If you’re in town for work, we’re within walking distance of the convention center.

There is an abundance of restaurant options near-by and all of the best restaurants in town are within 15 minutes by cab/Uber.

Turkey & the Wolf is a few blocks away and couldn’t be more well thought of for both its food and its cocktails (one of the Top 5 new restaurants by Brett Anderson – the most-respected food critic in the city).

Hi-Volt is a quick walk and has great coffee and lighter lunch options.

Lilly’s Café is similarly close and has some of the best Vietnamese food in the city (high praise, since NoLa has killer Vietnamese food). Coquette is a 15-minute walk and can deliver either a super-inventive tasting menu or a totally casual fried chicken at the bar. Toups South, Comprere Lapin, and La Petite Grocery are each less than a 10 minute Uber ride for fans of Top Chef.

Revelator Coffee and/or Cochon Butcher are must-stops (for coffee and amazing sandwiches, respectively) on your way to the French Quarter. Lastly, shout-out to Domilise’s for our favorite po-boy (split a half & half seafood between two people).

Of course, there are literally hundreds of other amazing restaurants all around town.

A few bars nearby that we’d highly recommend: The Avenue Pub (beer selection that rivals most bars in America), Tchoup Yard (cocktails), Urban South Brewery and Courtyard Brewery (breweries with tap rooms), The Tasting Room (wine bar).

And if you overindulged the night before, we’re fans of NoLa Yoga Loft – drop-ins are welcome and mats are available.

Today, the Lower Magazine/Irish Channel is one of the most eclectic neighborhoods in the city, and in New Orleans that's saying something. It's popular with both residents and visitors to the city.

The residents come from every walk of life and income level. Many families are multi-generational, having raised children and grandchildren there, while others are among the city's newest arrivals. Located along a strip of high ground near the Mississippi River.

The mix of locally owned shops and restaurants, beautiful serenity of St. Mary's Assumption Church, and contributions by everyone from the Emerald Isle to El Salvador attracts people from throughout the city and the country. From a neighborhood of working class immigrants to one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city, the Irish Channel has a long and storied history.

The Irish Channel was originally home to many of the Irish workers who came here in the 1830s to build the New Basin Canal, a waterway built to connect Lake Pontchartrain with businesses and industry in the developing New Orleans.

This neighborhood is known for its small cottages and shotgun homes located on narrow lots, traditionally inhabited by blue-collar workers who could afford their modest prices. Houses here are smaller than other homes in the Garden District or in other parts of Uptown, but what they lack in square footage, they make up for in fine decoration charm. Their close proximity creates a feeling of community and coziness. Here you can still ask a neighbor for a cup of sugar or gossip over a backyard fence.
