 SUMMER CANOE/KAYAK PACKAGE

Come stay two nights at a beautiful cabin in the woods, and spend a day kayaking or canoeing on the Allegheny River. A memorable adventure getaway that will get you back in touch with nature.

We have partnered with a local Canoe and kayak outfitter; Oars Allegheny- to offer this special package. Here's how it works: rent the cabin for two nights. This is a must, you need 2 nights to be able to squeeze it all in. It can be any two nights of the week, doesn't have to be just weekends. After you book the cabin, shoot us a message and let us know you're interested in the canoe and kayak package. We will notify the outfitter of your interest and when you're coming, and then you are responsible for contacting them to sort  the specifics of your trip. They generally charge around $55 per person to pick you up and drop you off at the cabin, and that fee includes them providing you a kayak or canoe.

The schedule is super easy. You arrive on your first day at the check-in time anytime after 2 p.m., get settled in, and enjoy an evening at the cabin. Have a campfire, make some s'mores, enjoy a beautiful Pennsylvania summer evening! The morning of your second day, the Outfitter will pick you and your party up directly from the cabin at the time you specified. the Outfitter will have all of the canoes and kayaks for your party, everybody piles into the bus and away you go!

Let the Outfitter know how long you would like to be on the water, as he has a variety of different put in and take out spots on both French Creek and the Allegheny River. He will drop you off, and explain to you where to get out of the river so that he can pick you up. Then you're off for a relaxing float down the river to take in some of the most beautiful Wilderness that Pennsylvania has to offer.

When you arrive at your designated endpoint, the Outfitter will be there to pick you up. They will load up all of your canoes and kayaks, and then bring you and your entire party back to the cabin. Then everybody can unwind and have a relaxing evening around the campfire!

They offer 2-person and 3-person canoes, sit-in and sit-on-top kayaks, as well as a few tandem kayaks.

Here's a couple of items you might want to bring along:

Cooler for snacks and drinks

Water shoes or old tennis shoes

Sunscreen

Hat and sunglasses

Waterproof bag or dry sac

Insect repellent

Trash bag (you must practices Leave No Trace.)

Cell phone and watch

Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. You may want to bring a change of clothes just in case.

To be clear YOU are responsible for contacting "Oars Allegheny" the kayak and canoe outfitter located in Franklin Pa. After giving us a heads up of your desire to hit the river, we will contact them simply as courtesy, but you need to contact them as soon as possible to work out the specifics of your river trip. You can pay them directly when they come to pick you up.

Oars Allegheny runs trips from mid April to mid October.

Spending time at the cabin is almost a spiritual experience. You are completely immersed in nature. No distractions. No neighbors. No worries. Use your time here to remember what the sound of the wind in the trees it's like. Waking up to birds chirping as the sun rises. There's no better way to recharge your batteries than to spend a couple of days at this magical place.
