Simple downstairs private room with lockable door and key. This is just an extra room in my house so if you're looking for a hotel or a party house this is not it. I live/work here full-time. Please see all details and house rules before requesting to book to make sure it is right for you. This is a pet and child-free environment. Towels, sheets and pillowcases fresh-laundered for each new guest.

Simple corner basement bedroom with large built-in closet, carpeting and Turkish area rug. Chair, stepstool as nightstand, lamp, overhead room light and 3 prong adapter. Single twin bed with 2 comforters, 2 pillows and an extra blanket. Heating vent. This room is very basic and meant only for short-stay guests who will be out and about most of the time and just sleeping at night here. Cheaper than a private room in a hostel downtown and I only host up to 3 guests at a time. Shared household toiletries - shampoo, bath gel, toothpaste toilet paper provided.

One outdoor parking space is reserved for you on one side of the driveway or along front of my house if you are not in an over-sized vehicle like a truck or camper. *If you have a car check the weather report - if it snows your car may end up trapped here as my home is at the bottom of a small hill!

Your room is your private space. The small 3/4 bathroom and the side entrance you use downstairs may be shared with 1 other guest (male or female) only if my other downstairs listing is booked. If not you will have the bathroom to yourself. You can come up to have coffee in the kitchen and backyard if you feel like chatting in the morning or just come and go as you please through the downstairs side entrance through the backyard (see photos). Feel free to use the kitchen table or the living room to lounge in for your "lap-top friendly space" as I'm usually in the room I use as my office then.

No cooking with stove or oven or any preparation of raw meat or seafood. Okay to use my plates, bowls, utensils, microwave oven, toaster, drip coffee maker (although I am usually using it), electric tea kettle. Free coffee, tea, breakfast snacks (it varies).

I greet guests at the front door for check-in, ask for your ID if you don't look like your profile (you will be turned away if you are booking on someone else's account, or are not traveling alone), show you to your room, explain wi-fi password and house rules, then you're on your own. I like talking to guests when I see them in common areas but I will respect your privacy if you are in your room.

See map location below to determine if it is convenient for your needs. This is a rapidly gentrifying residential neighborhood in close commuting distance to, but not IN, downtown.

In this neighborhood you can have breakfast at Fresh Flours Bakery, Cafe Victrola, Coffee Compadre, Baja Bistro, The Station or Starbucks ...all about a 10 minute walk away. Have dinner at Thai Recipe Cafe, Seattle's Best Pho, the Oak Pub, the Perihelion Brewery, Traveler's Thali India House, Bar del Corso, the taco bus, Wendy's, Subway, or Taco Time.

This is in a relatively convenient overall central Seattle location if you have a working smartphone, a car, are a fit urban walker who doesn't mind hills and commuting with Seattle's new link light rail system or on buses, or can afford to use UberX, UberPool, or Lyft to get where you need to go. Finding parking may be difficult and expensive if you're any closer to downtown so my place is great if you want to park here to walk or ride transit in. My home is at the end of a short dead-end street and if you are on foot it is fine to walk here in daylight but after dark it is probably easier and safer to take Uber or Lyft to my door unless you are unafraid of wandering ill-lit neighborhoods at night.

I am near on/off ramps to I-5, I-99, the toll-free I-90 bridge going east, the West Seattle Bridge going west, and alternate arterials to take when the freeways are too busy. I offer parking for regular and small-sized vehicles in the driveway or in front of my home.

My house is located between two link light rail stations about a 10-minute walk away. Mt Baker station is down the hill to my east, and Beacon Hill station is up the hill west of me. You'll never have to walk uphill if you always walk down from Beacon Hill station to my house and leave by walking down the hill from my house to Mt Baker station.

Link light rail travels between UW Station and Sea-Tac Airport, making 13 stops along the way, including downtown Seattle. Link trains run every 6, 10 or 15 minutes depending on the time of day. Service is available from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 6 a.m. to midnight on Sunday and holidays.

Adult fares range from $2.75 to $3.75 depending on your trip. Link light rail fares are based on distance traveled. Adult fares range from $2.25 to $3.25 depending on how far you travel. Look up the Sound Transit Trip Planner or the King County Metro Trip Planner for details.

I like coffee, conversation and cigarettes and I can't live without books, my computer video game or a decent internet connection. These days I enjoy literature, history and philosophy. In the past it was music, art, film and photography (I lived on Capitol Hill for 12 years during the grunge heyday). Come enjoy a visit to Seattle before it becomes as unaffordable as San Francisco! My listings are a great alternative to expensive hotels for resilient people on a budget.

I am originally from West Seattle. I have visited just under 30 countries and almost every state in the USA. I bought my home in 2002. I live/work from home in property management. The link light rail was built in 2009 and I began hosting travelers in my home on Airbnb in 2014.

Motto: Everything is relative.

I have 3 listings in my 4br, 1.75 ba house, which was built in 1958 and updated in 2002. It has air-conditioning for unseasonably hot summer days.
