We have a small, simple, private studio room for guests to stay in while they are visiting the Monterey Peninsula.
Hello Airbnb travelers!
We have a small, simple, very private studio room for guests to stay in while they are visiting the Monterey Peninsula. Though we are located right by Highway 1 as you enter Carmel, once you step through the large wooden gate and walk down the brick pathway in our secret garden, you will find a safe, clean, and simple haven to call home during your stay.
The room has a private entrance and a private bath, connected, yet completely closed off and separate from the main house where we live. The redwood room, hardwood floor, high-beam ceiling, and flora and fauna theme give the studio a calm, cheerful feel. The room has a comfortable queen size bed with a memory foam topper, and plenty of soft blankets and pillows. The bathroom has a shower, heat lamp, a wonderful radiant heat floor and lots of towels. There is no kitchen, but there is a small refrigerator, a tea kettle, and a coffee maker for your morning coffee. We provide complimentary freshly ground organic beans, a variety of teas, organic half & half and purified water. On the bookshelf you will find many books to read on local history, travel guides, hiking trails, California bird, tree and wildflower field guides, and other interesting topics. Wifi , a Bose Wave radio/cd player with a selection of cd's, a hair dryer, binoculars, a picnic basket, beach towels, ear plugs, and a small tv with Roku options, are also provided for your use and enjoyment.
The house is situated right off Highway 1 as you enter Carmel (about 70 ft), but we are surprisingly tucked away and hidden from view- but please note-*** YOU WILL HEAR TRAFFIC***. It quiets way down after rush hours in the morning and evening, even more after 11 p.m., and after ~12,-12:30 is u-s-ually pretty much quiet all night, although a bit louder and later during holidays, weekends, and local main events. The occasional siren and motorcycle can be heard, but with the windows closed, it's usually not that bad. Though the highway sound can definitely be an issue for some, almost all people so far have found the level to be acceptable- the new dual-pane windows and door help a lot! The upside to the location is that it offers very fast, instant access to any destination you are headed, be it Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley, Point Lobos, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Monterey or Big Sur.
***INCLUDED with the price of the room, we offer several perks to make your stay even more enjoyable:
*Two Monterey Bay Aquarium guest passes (an $100 value)
*A California State Park pass which gives you free access to our local Point Lobos State Park Reserve (a $10 value).
*Complimentary wine tasting card at an excellent local winery (a $20 value).
All are must-see places to go while you are here in Carmel, and if you take advantage of all these perks, it's like getting one night free!
If you are looking for a sunny, secluded, quiet place to stay, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a private, conveniently located, reasonably priced, cozy space with a hot shower, a comfortable bed and basic amenities, to use as a home base during your adventure, then this just may be the perfect spot.

We are both life-time Carmel locals. We cherish the local beauty of the hills and coastline that surround us, and we feel very blessed to be here. I am a dog sitter, and Michael is a veteran Caddie at Pebble Beach Golf Links. I love gardening, William Morris and Pre-Raphaelite art, animals, shell collecting and vegetarian cooking. Michael loves taking saunas, walking Point Lobos, hiking in the Sierra mountains, learning about local fauna and eating my vegetarian cooking. We are both passionate about water, energy and resource conservation, composting and recycling. We love Airbnb and look forward to opening our humble home to travelers near and far.
