Last minute rez from morning request. I left the yard work to fresh clean the entire house. Washed windows inside, dusted all, vacuumed rug in their room, wiped down the blinds, both sides, the lamp shades, the light bulbs. The door and all handles in house sanitized - and door frames. All done when last guests left, did again to insure all fresh! The bed was freshly made from last rental.
Bathroom ALL cleaned and sanitized - toilet, mirror, sink, tub - the tub is ugly from trying to resurface damaged porcelin from a long term renter who stained it with hair re-growth and hair dye. All cleaned with bleach. Bath mat scrubbed. EACH and every turnover. NEW shower curtain and liner installed the day before.
Sheets and bedclothes, including mattress cover washed and under pillow slips, washed and dried outdoors to damp, tossed into dryer. EACH and EVERY rental, including "one nighters", which many hosts will not even take ....
The day before, all living room furniture was dusted, oiled, glasses and bottles on entertainment center were washed.
Kitchen is ongoing clean, sanitized BECAUSE I LIVE HERE. The refrigerator orderly and clean. No one notes, or notices that I polish the refrigerator and both sinks with stainless cleaner or that I put fresh greens and assorted flowers in the room..... nor that I provide juices, coffee/tea (Keurig), fruits and breads/jellies/toppings. From my guests, I understand most hosts do not go to the bother, expense, inconvenience.
All tile flooring swept and steam washed freshly that day.
Short of pressure washing the interior of the house, how clean does one NEED?
I touch up and repaint the baseboards regularly from luggage marks.'I am extremely vigilant on cleanliness and repairs and upkeep. Basically clean my home EVERY day because I LIVE THAT WAY.
As to odors, smoking is permitted (as it says on my sites), just not in the bedrooms. No one else was in the house when they were here. I do have three dogs, they are bathed twice a week, one is 17 years old, does not shed, is blind and deaf but perky, still eats and I am waiting out his time .... he is very sweet and kind. Another is deaf and only uses potty pads IN MY ROOM. She came that way. I cannot save them all, but I can take them, care for them, feed them and love them til their time is up. They track up the floors, I sweep three times a day. I got them (as a rescuer advocate, sight unseen because their past life and neglect is not their fault). They are happy, affectionate, friendly and grateful.
These folks changed arrival times twice and arrived after 11PM and did not depart until noon, so with all Sandra's complaints, they were here later and longer than most.
I am sorry they feel they had a poor experience, but it was not for lack of my effort to provide and calm, friendly, clean experience.
