Descripción

Built circa 1895, this beautiful red-brick Victorian B&B—Laura's Bed & Breakfast—enjoys hillside country views, yet is just 15 mins drive from downtown Kingston and right off/south of the 401 highway. FREE Breakfast, Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and parking.

Our Double Room: two single beds.

(See also our Queen Room listing.)

Built circa 1895, this beautifully-preserved red-brick Victorian B&B—Laura's Bed & Breakfast—sits atop a gentle rolling hillside overlooking a lush creek plain.

Almost 120 years old, this was the farmhouse of the family that once owned and farmed the surrounding land. Building their home on a bedrock of limestone, they settled here a generation before the Depression and World Wars. To this day, our little road—Cloggs—is named in their honour.

Although not on our property, the original barn stands nearby, a relic of the past.

Despite its idyllic rural setting, our B&B is just 15 mins drive from downtown Kingston and right off/south of the 401 highway, which hums in the distance beyond our environmentally-protected country views.

You may spot some of the local wildlife during your stay: wild turkeys pecking their way along the rolling hillside that is our lawn, lazy gophers munching away in the grass, or gentle-spirited rabbits hopping into the trees.

At nighttime, look up at the stars; they're beautifully bright here.

(Learn more about the property in "The Neighborhood" section.)

Guests have access to the living room, family room, shared bathroom (with shower), front porch, and outdoor property. Access to kitchen facilities is limited to our no-cooking policy, but guests have access during breakfast hours to the toaster, kettle, coffee maker, and—for heating things up—the microwave. Ask us as well if you'd like any fridge space.

Free Parking and Wi-Fi!

Breakfast included! Coffee/tea, fruit, yogurt, various cereals and toast.

Enquire about our two bicycles, one large and one medium-sized; available to borrow. We have a medium-large bicycle helmet; also an extra-large one. Feel free to bring your own helmet or bike if you like, if the sizes we have won't accommodate.

For those who like campfires, enquire about using our chimnea. It doubles as a barbecue.

In the winter, guests may use one of our four sets of high-end cross-country skis. Enquire if interested, and bring your own ski boots (or skis) to enjoy skiing along surrounding rural roads and public areas.

Whether through extra peace & quiet or a friendly chat, we like to make space for our guests. Let us know if you'd prefer solitude.

Although rural, our property is just 3 mins drive, 5 mins bike, or 20-25 mins walk (1.5 km) to the nearest stores (A&W quick-serve restaurant, Petro Canada gas station). Just 1.5 km further and you'll reach a Walmart supercentre (for a huge range of goods and groceries) and other stores. From our B&B it is 15 mins drive (12 km) to the beautiful Kingston waterfront, the historic city centre with its renowned streets and restaurants, and the ferry to Wolfe Island.

Heading to or from Toronto or Ottawa? We are halfway between these great cities, right off the very highway that connects them: an incredibly-short 3 min drive (2 km) south of the 401.

If you haven't been to Kingston, do consider it. Home to the nation's Royal Military College and highly-regarded Queens University, Kingston features beautiful parks, historic buildings, pristine waterfront and an old-world charm that will refresh and rejuvenate you.

Whether an out-of-towner or a Kingston resident who needs an escape, our historic Bed & Breakfast serves—without sacrificing ready access to the highway or the city—as a quiet rural oasis.

Our B&B is most accessible by car, but see the "Guest Access" section about biking or walking locally. Kingston is not known for its public transit, but there is a bus stop 2 km from the B&B. Taxis are also an option.

Do consider staying with us here at Laura's Bed & Breakfast. We would love to have you.
