Our guesthouse is a detached building in the small port town of Kirikushi on Etajima island, Hiroshima.

It consists of: living room, kitchen, dining/spare room, separate WC & bathroom and 2 tatami bedrooms. Outside, a veranda suitable for drying washing, parking spaces and garden.

The property has had a recent interior revamp with new flooring, fresh paint and new beds, linen, furnishings and appliances.

We also welcome longer term tenants from 65000JPY pcm, please contact for details

Otros aspectos destacables
If you are used to staying in hotels and cities in Japan then please understand that Kirikushi will be a big change of style and pace! It is generally a quiet town where people get up early to commute or work on their allotments, by about 6pm only the port will be open business and most people will be at home so please respect the peace and avoid making loud noises or gatherings outside the property in the evening.

Between June and September temperatures and humidity rise significantly and make most physical daytime pursuits such as hiking, running or biking difficult at best.

If you love wildlife then you'll love the Japanese countryside in Summer! You will see (in significant quantities) mosquitoes, large dragonflies, cicada, Jorou spiders (among others), ants, bees, paper wasps, lizards and small land faring red crabs. Less frequently you may encounter Mukade (large centipedes), snakes and forest ticks. Whether you love the wildlife or not we strongly recommend using the insect guards if you need to open the windows and we've provided indoor mosquito nets if you feel you need them.

Hiroshima prefecture is home to wild boar and you can see them occasionally all year round, they live in the forest but will often mooch around houses after dark looking for food and tearing up bins. Despite their size boars are generally nervous and flighty, it is widely recommended to avoid them if you see them, also be aware while driving at night as they often stand in the road.

We currently have air conditioning in the living room and upstairs bedroom.

¿Dónde me voy a quedar?

Etajima, Hiroshima, Japón

Kirikushi is a typical Japanese countryside town, it is mainly a residential area with a few small businesses dotted around. There is a small shop at the port and another small grocery/liqour store nearby to buy essentials, there are also a few small restaurants mainly opening during lunch hours or early evening. The nearest shopping area including restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets etc is over 1 hour by bus (20min by car) so its generally easier (and quicker) to take the ferry to Hiroshima if you need a big shop.

Etajima is well known in Japan as being the home of the JMSDF officer training school, you will often see the recruits in Etajima town and training on Mt. Furutaka. It is possible to visit the training campus and museum if you are interested, please enquire for current opening/tour times.

The island is also a mecca for road cyclists and hikers with several mountain trails with stunning panoramic views of the Hiroshima bay area. I often walk the Kuman-dake -> Mt. Furutaka hiking loop and our guesthouse is situated about 10 mins to the entrance of the forest, just ask for directions or information on the best spots.

Etajima is famous for its Oyster farming industry and Kirikushi is no different, you will see the shellfish farmers working daily at sea and processing the oysters on land to feed hungry Hiroshimans
