This home was built in a tropical island environment at great expense. We are off grid, with 2 dozen solar panels. We have all the luxuries you might hope for, but with a reduced environmental impact. We are surrounded by massive trees & monkeys!
The house is made using a commercial Aluminum frame & glass system. The interior walls are teak, as is the floor & all the decks, which are extensive. The roof is a Bali inspired design, bamboo frame with thatch, it has a steel secondary roof to ensure no leaks.
The kitchen features a 20 foot long marble island. the ceilings are bamboo & are 10 feet tall. Each room has AC & a ceiling fan.
The third bedroom has 2 sets of bunk beds, the other has a queen bedroom & the master has a king bed. Both bathrooms have outdoor showers, which are out of this world.
Servicios y zonas comunes
We have a 150 foot long pier, to access the water for day trips. There is an amazing walk up on the ridge of the island that would make David Suzuki excited! We have a canoe & 2 paddle boards (fee as it was expensive & the graphite paddles can be damaged) for use. We also will have 3 boats, one that has a tow bar so we can take people out on our knee board or double water skies. We also have a coral surfer & when the conditions are right. We can take guests over coral reefs around the big island of Boca Bravo. Guests can view the reefs ( you need to wear a dive mask} while being pulled behind our Panga, while out in the marine park.
When you need to get supplies, our captain can take you to town. Day trips would be an extra fee, as well as water skiing & trip to the big island Boca Bravo. Trips to the marine park & fishing to Hannibal bank can be arranged.
Atención a los huéspedes
Our manager Victor is on the property, he also is our boat captain. I interact with our guests by phone as we have a free Magic Jack phone system installed along with high speed internet.
Otros aspectos destacables
I have bumped up the cost of the cleaning to include something to compensate us for boat transportation. Operating boats is expensive. It is not the same thing the guest driving up to a house on the main land. We have boat maintenance, yearly registration, captain's fees & fuel is a large portion of our charges. Our costs will doublr if the group is over 5 people & it will depend on which port we pick up from. Petregal near the airport is 3 times the distance. Chorcha which i am using as our base port is only 9 kms from our island & is the most efficient spot to get guests. However we are at your disposal & can drop off guest near the airport. Extra costs will apply.
This is a nature preserve. Not anything like Cancun. So do not expect discos & night life. Early to bed & early to rise is the tropical island way. The morning is the freshest time of the day at Mango bay. Great time to go for a hike on the ridge. If you expect untouched fauna & sounds of the jungle you will be thrilled.
We do have high speed internet & Netflix's. However sometimes the speed varies. The Magic Jack phone works well at times & at other times it is poor. Welcome to Latin America.
We have invested well over $50,000 on our power system, but there is a limit to what the system can handle. AC being left on all day will crash our system. We generate 95% of our power with our solar panels. When there is a larger group of guests over, the generator can be turned on at night for 1 - 3 hours & everything (AC units) can turned on at that point & all rooms can be cooled so that the system has little problem maintaining a comfortable temperature to sleep in.
There are 1-2 places in Boca Chica that you can go for dinner & lunch at Isla Palenque may be able to be arranged. But it would be an additional trip & a boat fee involved. So this is a bring your groceries & cook your self kind of stay. There is a dishwasher & a large fridge/freezer with crushed ice. We may be able to arrange dinner at night to give a more relaxed stay. The produce is amazing. If you make up a list we can arrange for the food to be bought & stored when you arrive. We have a deep freeze in the boat garage, so holding meat & fish for 1-2 weeks is no problem. I highly recommend this option. Shopping in David is hot & very time consuming. It is not a holiday activity in my opinion.
This is a glass house, it is very beautiful as it feels as if you live literally in a jungle. But wild parting & rough housing will create catastrophic damage. Spilled liquor on the floors & furniture would cause a lot of damage & stink for a long time! Tread lightly or this will be a short stay!!
The roof is thatch & the whole roof system would go up like a torch, Smoking is not allowed anywhere near the house. There is plenty of space to walk & puff if you choose. A pet is allowed, not sure how they would do with all the monkeys around. We have a dog on the grounds, we use for security purposes. He is very timid. He is use to the monkeys. Some times of the year, April & early May there will be restrictions on water use as it is the end of the dry season & the well is very slow to recover at these times of the year.
Married man with a beautiful wife & two children.
I am a self employed contractor.
I have done many real estate transactions & I am presently developing some land on the Pacific coast of Panama. I built a dream villa on a awesome piece of property. I am making that property available at times to new friends who would like to experience tropical island living.
