This is a room in an Ottoman liberty style townhouse in Beyoglu. The location is very central, walking distance to istiklal street, one of the main centers in Istanbul. There are many cafes, restaurants, bars, and shopping, night life.

El alojamiento

This cozy room for one person is on the entrance floor away from the street side of the house. It gets some light but not a lot, because our building is adjacent to another building.

(Sorry about the image quality in this listing. They are originally Airbnb professional photos, but I saved the low resolution version)

After entering the building, we have wooden spiral stairs that lead all the way up to the terrace on the third floor.

The room is furnished and you have:

- single bed
- wardrobe
- armchair x 2
- small desk
- chair
- shared bathroom (on the same floor)

I provide traditional turkish breakfast with homemade marmelades. It is 5 euro per person if you want to try it. You can use the washing machine free. I give traditional turkish cooking courses in my apartment. You can also join us as my quest. If you want to organise it for yourself for your group, whole program costs 50 euro. We buy ingredients together and cook together.

Servicios y zonas comunes

- wireless internet connection
- use of equipped kitchen (on the second floor, common use with the me and other guest of the house)
- free use of washing machine
- terrace on the roof that everyone can use
- all bills included

Atención a los huéspedes

I live in the same building, on the second floor, two levels up from the entrance (same floor as the kitchen). You are always welcome to have a tea or coffe with me or share my table if you happen to be at home while we eat.

Recomendable 100% Saludos

I didn't get to meet Fatima in person, but her husband Hasan welcomed me very nicely and was very helpful whenever I needed something. I went to Istanbul in order to learn Turkish and Hasan would always take his time and have conversations with me in my pace. The house itself is beautiful and clean, be aware though that half of the rooms' windows are covered be the neighboring house. I imagine this can also be quite reliefing in summer though and on nice days I spent most of my time at home on the roof terrace anyway. The house is a ten minute walk away from Taksim Square, and busses to the historic peninsula leave just around the corner. All in all I can only recommend staying with Fatima and Hasan!

This was my second time staying with Fatma and Hasan and I only regret that I was not able to stay longer. They were wonderful hosts as before and I enjoyed a few evenings dining and drinking tea with them and some of the other guests. Staying here you are very close to all of the touristic areas and only a 5 min walk from the popular Istiklal Caddesi. There is also a great market that happens every Sunday in Tarlabasi, be sure to check it out. Until next time!

Fatma and Hasan instantly made me feel at home! They were extremely patient with my toddler-level Turkish, and frequently invited me to join them for meals, tea, raki, cigarette breaks, etc. The house is on the edge of the Tarlabasi, which is a colorful and rough neighborhood, but I never felt unsafe. Would happily stay here again!

The hosts Fatma and her husband Hasan are very friendly and hospitable. They gave me some excellent tips on places to go. The neighbourhood is convenient with shops and restaurants.

As soon as I arrived Fatma and her husband Hasan were very welcoming. They made me some Turkish coffee and offered some delicious pide before showing me my room. The listing was accurate and the room is as described. I immediately felt at home and especially enjoyed the late nights on the lovely rooftop terrace where I got to meet and talk with some of the other guests staying in the house. The neighborhood is extremely close to istiklal street (5min walk) and very close to all the central touristic areas in Istanbul. The neighborhood is quite different from the tourist areas which will immediately be apparent. I never felt uncomfortable but of course it is always good to be alert and careful anywhere you are. I loved how there were always children playing in the street throughout the day

Fatma and her family were extremely good hosts. They made sure to take care of me and my brother and gave us information about the city when needed. Over the past four years they've had a LOT of people stay over so once you do you're sort of part of Fatma's network of guests. She's already told me I'm welcome to stay again next time I'm in town!

I am from Adana, a town in old Cilicia, have been living in Istanbul for quite a while. I have worked in tourism sector for a long time now I am retired and want to know new people. I can speak english and I can join you through your visit to show Istanbul or giving you some local information.

I love cooking and feel myself lucky to know both eastern and wester cooking traditions of Turkey and willing to give half day cooking classes to whom it may interest.
