This is a ground level apartment in the oldest residential home in Savannah. This space is not fancy at all, but it is convenient and very well located! The owners live above. No shared space. Great for bargain hunters and/or those who can't do stairs. Historic District Apt, King bed in the bedroom
and attached full bathroom with combo tub/shower. There is a door between the bedroom and the living room. The living room has a pullout queen size sofa bed.

This historic garden level (also known as the first floor) apartment is a convenient, efficient home base for your Savannah getaway. And it is an amazing value!

The home you see from the street, a three story 1880s Italianate residence, actually started its life sometime between 1799 and 1809 (circa 1802 according to a past guest who researched it) as a two-story Federal style building.

This apartment is entirely private. Guests have their own laundry, bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen.

You will need to call me at least a day before you come to get a lock box code and confirm you have read all the terms of your rental.

Easy Access To All Tourist Destinations, Easy Walking Distance to Anything (Including River Street).

This is an ideal spot for anyone who is flying in and wishes to do without a vehicle. Savannah is a walking city and this location is smack dab in the middle of walker's paradise!

Parking is metered at this location. Weekends are free at meters (from 5pm Friday until 8am Monday) but guests who come for weeknight stays with a vehicle will want to purchase a City of Savannah Day Pass which is $12 for 48 hours or $7 for 24 hours. This pass covers meters and City Garages so it's a great bang for your buck! You can get the pass from the Visitors Information Center or from the front desk of the nearby 17hundred90 Inn.

The apartment has its own front door, so there is no shared space. The main house is owner occupied; its entrance is facing a different street and take note that the historic wooden siding on the main house is in need of a paint job and the owner is aware of it but it is probably going to be a while before he completes this expensive item. It does not affect the apartment but it affects the first impression of the overall "building" since the paint is peeling. Historic preservation comes with many rules (such as keeping real wood siding and single pane windows) and overall these homes always have a to-do list.

Otros aspectos destacables

The central AC is very powerful and the air return is in the bedroom which does create a fairly loud white noise effect. While notable, it should not prevent you from sleeping and some guests have even commented that it blocks out outside noises from the city outside or the owners above.

The owners who live above do have two dogs. They will not share any indoor space with you. You may hear them barking upstairs.

The following is standard Savannah Luxury Rentals information: We provide sheets, toilet paper and soap. Our toilet paper is Scott brand because it decreases the chances of clogged toilet plumbing service calls and it lasts longer decreasing the chance you will run out. If you prefer thick cushioned toilet paper bring it along but use it sparingly in our older plumbing and never flush "flushable" wipes or other products that are likely to cause a clog.

Mary is a great host; self check-in and self check-out super easy. She stayed in touch to make sure we were satisfied with everything. The appartment was as advertised, the furnishing were vintage (really beautiful) kitchen well stocked for cooking (but why would you, your in Savannah!), the ice maker was a bonus (no little ice trays to refill, been there, done that.) The bathroom was roomy and very clean and the king size bed was very comfortable. My husband and I felt very safe walking around day or night. We stayed prodomintly in the historic district (we avoided Bay St., the main tourist areas on the river front) and really tried to enjoy the layed back feeling of the historical district. I think by keeping our focus on our surounding area we could better appreciate Savannah.

This is a good place to stay for short trips. My friends and I stayed there for a weekend. It's really a walker's paradise. The furthest place I walked to is the visitor center and I took me 20 minutes at most. The only problem is there were some ants and roaches in the room. I asked Mary for help and the owner of the house brought us pesticide. So I won't suggest you to stay there during the summer. It's just because the humid weather.

Thank you for reviewing Walker's Paradise! This is the ground level apartment in the oldest residential building in Savannah. We do not normally have ants and we think we took care of that, sugar ants are very smart and descend upon any residence where someone has left cookies or food out previously. Nobody else has mentioned those ants and we have not seen more after this departure.

Perfect location. Parking wasn't too bad - you have to park on the street and pay. Walking distance from everything. Overall, great place to stay!

Our stay at Walkers Paradise was just that a convenient oasis centrally located and ideal for walking around historic Savannah.This is large comfortable one bedroom city apartment with a king bed , kitchen , living room, private bath and washer/dryer. Both the owners and Mary were very communicative and helpful. We hope to return.

I spent a long weekend at the Walkers Paradise and was generally very pleased with the accommodations. The space was large, clean, and in an amazing location. Check in was a breeze, and communication was always quick.
