Descripción

In heart of West Nashville (Sylvan Park) - Convenient to downtown (4 miles) and highway but safe and quiet. Very private basement suite includes separate bed and bath, large living area with kitchenette, WiFi, parking & private exterior entrance.

This is a perfect space for tourists and travelers wanting most of the comforts of home and none of the hassle of hotels - at about 50-85% of the cost! The large bedroom includes a Queen bed and vanity. Separate living area has a couch, TV, table, desk and even an air hockey table if you're in the mood!

Please note that this is a basement suite - I work religiously to keep the area clean and spend considerable time cleaning between each guest. The toilet, shower, sink and all surfaces are cleaned and scrubbed and/or sanitized between all guests.

That said, This is not the Omni or Hermitage hotel. It's a happy little basement full of love with scuffed up floors, handed down rugs and a couch that my dog gnawed on a bit when he was a puppy. We also live in the south, making a cool basement an attractive destination for the occasional small spider or stink bug. I do everything I can to keep them on the outside but there have been a few sightings in the past few years. (Honestly if you hunt under just about anyone's couch in a basement in Middle Tennessee in July you should probably expect to see a silverfish...)

While we can rarely hear guests, there is the occasion that my son decides to walk like a herd of elephants or I forget to remove heels when I walk in the door. Once in a blue moon we have a dance party on a Saturday afternoon or sit out on the shared deck. Also, my craft and office space is in the basement so if we are hunting for something down there you might hear us briefly but an air-filter and locked door segregate this space.

I try to provide all of the amenities you need to make your stay a great one. There's a fridge and other "kitchenette" basics downstairs in the living area including a toaster oven and hot pot. I had over a dozen broken wine glasses last year so we've moved to mainly plastics downstairs. Nothing like a good red solo cup to make a trip to Nashville feel just right!

Use of the grill is also acceptable but give me warning since I am prone to running out of propane!

With a separate entrance and designated parking area, guests are free to come and go as they please. That said, my son, dogs and I love to make new friends and are always available in case of dilemmas or the need for a restaurant recommendation!

One of the original "working class" neighborhoods in Nashville, Sylvan Park is just off 440 and 40. West End and Charlotte are on either side and we have dozens of great bars and restaurants within walking distance. A dedicated parking spot for guests is provided and my neighbors are vigilant in their "watch" duties as well.

While the bus isn't the most reliable method in Nashville, it does run within a few blocks of the house and can take you downtown for less than $2. Uber is also a safe and easy way to get around. A trip downtown will cost about $10 including tip - watch out for the Uber Surge though.

I thrive on kindness and live in the midst of chaos - my son is 10 and there are a tribe of neighborhood kids that love to use our garage and alley as a public gather space. Please remember to drive slowly and ask them to move anything that is in your way!

The suite is NOT toddler proofed. Babies are no problem at all and I can always borrow a pack-and-play if you let me know ahead of time.

I'm fun and love to chat and make any recommendations you'd like! That said, I don't see much of our guests since they have a separate entrance and often folks roll in while I'm still at work.

We have a dog who will remain upstairs but loves to greet guests.

Smoking (anything) inside is strictly prohibited.

We ask that you help keep the suite affordable by doing a few little things to clean up on your way out - if your schedule's tight or you forget I promise we will still love you but it would make a single mom's day if you stripped your bed and took out the trash!
