Private room in small but cozy two-bedroom apartment in Long Island City (Queens). Apartment is located on the ground floor in the back of the building so it is quiet. Standard, American "Full size" or "Double" bed: 54x75").
I provide fresh sheets, towels, bath soap, Pantene shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, flat iron, clothes iron/ ironing board, cable TV, Netflix, and wireless internet. There is a grocery store and laundromat down the street. Also a diner, deli, and coffee shop, all open 24-hours! Vernon Boulevard is a short walk away and is filled with charming shops, restaurants, and bars. There is also a health food store, liquor store, and gourmet ice cream shop close by. Gantry State Park is a beautiful park only 10 minutes away and has excellent views of Manhattan--I highly recommend it.
Bedrooms are located on opposite ends of the apartment (with the bathroom, kitchen, and living room in between), so you will have your privacy. Also, my typical guest has a busy life, whether a student or professional in New York for work, he/she is usually up and out early in the morning during the week, or is taking advantage of all this great city has to offer on weekends. You are free to come and go as you please and I don't mind if you arrive late at night, I just ask that you be quiet when you arrive if I am sleeping, and I will do the same :) Also, the building where I live is very quiet and family-oriented so I ask that you be respectful of that.
I take pride in having a beautiful, comfortable living space and I am happy to share it. Although it is a small apartment--in typical New York City fashion!--it is very neat and well-appointed and you will find everything you need. Also, I am in the habit of taking off my shoes when I come in the door and I ask that you do the same :)
I am more than happy to offer suggestions on where to go and what to see while you are in New York, and I’ve also been known to play tour-guide on occasion.
Please contact me with any questions. Thanks and I look forward to being your host in New York City!
Although I love animals, especially dogs, they are not allowed in my building. Also no additional guests are allowed in the apartment, so if you have friends in the area you must meet with them outside. I also prefer that you take off your shoes in the house—I do provide guest slippers if needed.
It is a typical New York apartment, meaning the space we will be sharing is fairly small so I ask that you help keep it tidy, i.e. wash your own dishes, use coasters for your drinks (provided), keep shared spaces clean and put things back where you found them. Also, please turn off ALL lights if you are the last one to leave.
NO SMOKERS ALLOWED: There is no smoking allowed in the apartment and I do not want anyone hanging around in front of my building smoking.
(Sorry, but I have had problems with this in the past so it is non-negotiable).
