Wonderful and cute spot with views of the Guadalupe Mountains. The host was very nice and accommodating. There were chickens so you'll make some new friends!

This was the perfect spot for us! More then just the room, it was the whole area we enjoyed. It's quite, it's a drive from most of anything so It does depend on what you're looking for though. It was an adventure we would recommend!

I went out to hike Guadalupe peak with some friends. There were some issues with the place I was supposed to stay and I booked Laura's place an hour before I arrived. It was ready when I arrived in town. The a/c struggled a bit the first night but it'd been 115 that day. The place was quiet and relaxing. Beautiful location.

Guadalupe Peak, an ancient ocean reef, and the highest point in Texas, rises sharply to the east. Laura is a local, and knows all the hidden gems to visit in this remote place of wide open spaces. Her properties are lovingly restored, and the perfect respite from the Chihuahuan Desert and surrounding mountain ranges.

Laura's location in Dell City is perfect for hiking Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It’s a 45-60 minute drive to Pine Springs or McKittrick Canyon Visitor Centers/trailheads, but the drive to/from is a scenic view of El Capitan and Guadalupe Peak, which is awesome to experience at different times of the day (sunrise, sunset, afternoon, etc.) and never gets old. Since camping in the park campgrounds cannot be reserved, is first come, first serve, and may have nothing available when you arrive, you can’t do better than Laura’s places in Dell City for hiking Guadalupe Peak out of Pine Springs. Dell City is a quiet farming community – very relaxing and refreshing after a day of hiking, with views of the mountains for sunrise/sunset off the porch. You can’t get a better host than Laura, who went well out of her way to check in on us and make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was very well decorated, relaxing, and made a nice romantic getaway for my wife and I. The locals in Dell City will know you’re from out of town and likely staying at one of Laura’s places, so they are also very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. AT&T cell phone service works, but not much else. Plan your food out in advance, as many restaurants are not open in the evenings except on certain nights of the week, and none may ever be open past 6:00 pm. When all else fails, there is still a grocery store in town with surprisingly good fresh made pizza and hot subs.

I grew up on a ranch in the vicinity of my properties and went away for many years. When I came home I decided to refurbish the oldest buildings I could buy and do something for the tidy-up of the community at the same time. It has been rewarding to create a calm, livable space out of almost ruin. Presently Im renovating the only motel Dell City had which was built in 1950 and has not been open for over 30 years. It will be 4 AIRBNB units available by Thanksgiving 2017.
