Welcome to Burro Flats High Desert Lodge (our home which we love to share with visitors)! The "Independence Room" is a large (about 500 square feet) master bedroom for up to 2. It is an UPSTAIRS room with a view facing east, and attached private bathroom including deep soaker bathtub (plus shower). It also has a large closet, seating area and SUPER comfy queen sized bed.
Our multiple guest sets SHARE access to main floor kitchen, pool table (TV and pool table hours 10am-10pm), half bathroom.

El espacio
When you reserve this upstairs master bedroom, you book a stay in the 2nd largest home in popular, high desert destination city Kanab, Utah!

Our home rests on 3 acres with nothing but open country behind, with an acre or more between any neighbors (however, the inside of our home is often bustling with fellow guests, and many a new friendship has been made within these walls!).

We call our home the "Burro Flats High Desert Lodge." This space and location is so beautiful and it gives us joy to share it with others.

Many guests remark that it feels similar to a Bed & Breakfast (with a very bare-bones, self-serve DIY breakfast with only the basics provided), or like a very upscale hostel (because of the shared, common areas for cooking or hanging out... you will still have your own private room for sleeping and storing your things, and privacy in your en-suite, attached bathroom.

You will be the only guests to use your bathroom, which contains a combination shower/bath, towels, washcloths, shampoo and conditioner, bubblebath, liquid body wash & handsoap, facial tissue, hairdryer, mirror, sink, countertop and of course, toilet and toilet paper! :) You can store your own toiletries in there, no one else will be allowed to use your bathroom, which is in your room.

The "Independence Room" is located in relative privacy within the house. There are multiple other guest rooms on the same floor, but not directly next to the "Independence Room." You will still need to observe quiet hours starting at 10pm each night, though, as our home isn't very soundproof.

We think that you will love the high, vaulted yet cozy, sloped ceilings, the large window with a sunrise view, the historical American decor, and room to relax in your "home base" between daily sightseeing excursions.

How nice it will be to come back in the evenings, after each day of exploring, to soak in the tub or lounge in the common areas!

We have GREAT, fast wifi Internet and cell phone service (other than Sprint, which seems to have problems here) and this room has a small table, chairs and plenty of electrical outlets.

The queen sized bed mattress is extremely comfortable and high quality.

There is a space heater in your room, as well as a ceiling fan for added air circulation. This way you can control your own temperature. There is also an air vent in the ceiling for central air conditioning and heating.

Also in the room is an extra blanket, extra pillows, facial tissue (Kleenex), a wastebasket, end tables and bedside lamps, and light blocking curtains. We care about you having a wonderful visit!

Kanab, Utah and our home is located at the center of these attractions:

20 minutes from Best Friends Animal Society
1 hour from Zion
1 hour 20 minutes from Bryce
1 hour 15 minutes from Grand Canyon (North Rim) - open May 15-Nov 30
1 hour 15 minutes from Lake Powell / Page
1 hour 45 minutes from Dixie National Forest (Cedar Breaks)

There is a large closet with shelves and also hangers.

Servicios y zonas comunes
Take advantage of the large, furnished common areas downstairs from your room (on the main floor ground level), including kitchen (bring your own groceries other than coffee, margarine, cooking oils and a few condiments and spices, and enjoy full kitchen privileges until 10pm at night), living room with large screen cable TV (until 10pm), pool table (until 10pm) and covered, outdoor balcony with patio table and chairs, electrical outlets and sunset views.

There is also a half bathroom (toilet and sink only: No shower/bath) on the main floor, which is near the kitchen. All guests can use this bathroom.

Uncrowded area, rural yet within city limits. If you love Southwestern wildlife then you'll enjoy spotting quail, jackrabbits, cottontails and ground squirrels right on the property. Further in the distance you might see an occasional coyote or family of mule deer passing through!

Hi! We're Nicholas & Celeste Meyeres, and our home that we share with visitors is Burro Flats High Desert Lodge! We adore the Southwestern high desert, nature, wildlife and meeting new people! This is Nicholas’ full-time, as well as dream job! Before welcoming guests in our home, he was a manager at a top rated country club in Kansas for 6 years, but Kanab is where he plans to live forever! Celeste is a knits designer who has created over 6,000 scarves, throw blankets, etc by hand: Including a shawl for Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. She owns CricketsKnits (ask if you're curious to see her "yarn dungeon" basement studio during your stay!). In 2013 we bought a huge home on 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious views behind (and GREAT wifi connection!). This home and location makes us feel so happy and free and that is why we love to share it with visitors :) We live in the downstairs of the three level house (the 2nd largest in Kanab), with separate kitchen, bathroom, et cetera, so you'll mainly only see us at check in and check out (when we welcome you and then when we say "Bon voyage, see you next time!") Unless, of course, you'd like to ask questions, get directions or just chat; we're here for you at *your* level of comfort. :) We welcome responsible, easy-going guests of all ages, language, culture, heritage and lifestyle. Unless you reserve the entire upper two floors, you will most likely be interacting with other guests in our home during your stay; this is a friendly and social environment with everyone being considerate and cohabiting peacefully. Our home has a sort of super nice hostel feel, or like a B&B except with a DIY, bare-bones breakfast. :)

Durante tu estancia
We live in the lower level of the three level house, with private kitchen, bathroom and living quarters. So guests will mainly only see us at check in, check out, if they have any questions, or occasionally in the common areas of the house. Sometimes before quiet hours start at 10am, Celeste will be working in her knitting studio, which is also downstairs. We're here if you need us; otherwise, we'll maintain a respectful distance.

We welcome respectful, appreciative guests of all ages, language, culture, heritage and lifestyle.

You will almost certainly be interacting with multiple other guests in our home during your stay; this is a warm, social and friendly environment.
