Ysyhia is modern, bright and airy & has a private pool that is the perfect size for flopping about in. The cottage is set in olive and almond groves and looks out across the sea. 1½km from the village, no other buildings are visible from here.

Ysyhia is the Greek word for tranquillity. We chose this name for our cottage because it was the exclamation most frequently used by our builders when they took a well-earned rest during its construction. It would be wrong to describe Glossa, a traditional hillside village of some 900 souls, just over 1km away, as hectic or noise-some, but by comparison, it is. There is more traffic on the sea, 200m below the cottage, than there is on the dirt road that leads to its door and you are more likely to hear the voices of fishermen in their boats than a passing car. You are also likely to hear a dog or a cockerel, but not much else. The cottage is set in olive and almond groves and looks out across the sea towards Evvia. No other buildings nor signs of civilisation are visible. This is truly a place to unwind, relax and imagine that you are alone in the world. But, when you want to venture out to shops, beaches or tavernas, all can be found within a 3km radius.
The cottage is perfect for a couple or an individual seeking tranquility.

The bedroom has air conditioning, a standard double bed, two bedside units with reading lights and two wardrobes with interchangeable shelves to accommodate full length hanging. French doors open out to the shaded pergola and a view straight out to sea.

The bathroom has a pebble floor with open-plan shower, a washbasin set into a natural marble surface and a toilet you can flush paper down.

The kitchen is part of the main living room and is equipped with; fridge-freezer, combi-microwave oven, ceramic hob and twin sinks. Cupboard units above and below the granite worksurface, kettle, toaster and juice extractor.

In a lobby between the bathroom and the living room there is a washing machine, iron and ironing board.

The living room has dining table and chairs, internet access, built-in sofas, smart TV and DVD player. We also provide a local mobile phone for use during your stay.

The cottage is cleaned and the linen changed prior to your arrival. We provide bathroom, pool and beach towels, tea towels and all bed linen. Fresh towels and bed linen are provided weekly.

Barbecue, Private Pool, Parking, Garden.

Our house is up the hill on the same plot. Each house has its own private access and a fence separates the 'farm' from Ysyhia and its garden. A grove of olive and almond trees provide each house with total privacy from one another but we are on hand should you want help or advice. We are very friendly and are happy to spend time with our guests. However, because the cottage is so private it attracts private people, and we respect that. So the amount of interaction between us and our guests is almost entirely dependent upon how much interaction our guests would like to have with us.

We love the forest and the view of mountains on Evvia. Ysyhia is far enough from civilisation to be astonishingly quiet and restful yet close enough to be convenient for shops, beaches and eating out. The view is, of course, stunning, and with no light pollution, the night sky is bursting with stars. No other buildings can be seen from the cottage and none overlook it.
The nearest beach is Perivoliou, under ten minutes by car and even in the height of summer you will often find you have it to yourself. Unspoilt and beautiful. There is also a delightful beach just below the monastery of Ayios Ioannis sto Kastro, the tiny church on a rock which featured in the film Mamma Mia. This is about twenty minutes by car. There are many other beaches nearby if you prefer your beach experience to include a bar, taverna or music.
If lounging around beside the pool or on a beach is not your style, there are plenty of other things with which to occupy yourself. Skopelos Island is very popular among walkers, but you can also hire bicycles from Skopelos Town. You could rent a boat for the day, go sea kayaking or paddle-boarding with the local specialists, or perhaps you may wish to join us for a jaunt in our own boat. There are also day cruises available from Skopelos Town to the marine park around Alonnisos where you are likely to see seals and dolphins.

We strongly recommend that you rent a car as there is no public transport in the vicinity. We can help you to arrange local car rental. If you are likely to spend days on end at the cottage, without ever venturing out then it might be a better idea just to call for a taxi when you want to get shopping in.

Ysyhia has its own small private pool with sun-lounging area plus a barbecue and a shaded pergola for outdoor dining.
There is really good water pressure in the shower etc. and you can flush loo paper down the toilet, you don't have to put it in a bin beside the loo.
You will likely be offered fresh eggs or vegetables from our garden depending upon availability.

Perfil de usuario de Sarah

We are Matt and Sarah. We first came to Skopelos Island on holiday in 2002 and fell in love with it. We returned six months later to see how a couple of months in the winter suited us and that is when we found and bought our acre and a half of hillside. We returned in 2005 to live here full time, supervising the building of our own house and taming the land. Our smallholding is predominantly a mixture of olive and almond trees. It also includes a small vineyard, a sizeable vegetable garden and a developing fruit orchard. We keep hens and a couple of sheep. Matt tends most of the plants and animals, makes the wine and does a bit of fishing. Sarah makes preserves, answers guest queries and cleans out the hen-house.
