Descripción

My one-bedroom apartment in Edgewater is a short walk to the beach and Andersonville, and just a few blocks from the el and a handful of buses. A pull-out couch in the living room means that 4 people can stay comfortably.

My charming 1BR apartment is on the third floor of a courtyard building in Edgewater, a quiet, residential neighborhood just north of Andersonville.

[Please note there is no elevator in the building.]

The bedroom has a double bed. The living room has a pull-out sofa that sleeps 2 (comfortable, I promise) if you'd like to fit more people in.

The kitchen is well-equipped (I like to cook) and has a breakfast nook with seating for 4.

I have a tv that plays dvd's and broadcast tv, but no cable.

In the summer I have a window a/c unit that cools the living room and bedroom.

Andersonville is about a 10-minute walk away, and is a great neighborhood for coffee, brunch, craft beer bars, dining, and shopping, especially if you like antique or repurposed furniture.

I'm a 5-10 minute walk to the red line of the el train, which will get you downtown in about 30 minutes. I'm also within a few blocks of several buses. If you're coming into town for a specific reason, I can give you an idea of how you would get there from my place and how long it would take you.

There is free street parking in the neighborhood - availability depends on when you're looking for a spot. During the day it's pretty easy to find a spot on my block or less than a block away. The later it gets into the evening the longer you might have to look, but generally you'll be able to find a spot in less than 10 minutes.

Can't recommend Janet's apartment highly enough. Comfortable, quiet, clean, in a great neighborhood, close to the Red Line, good restaurants, and a Whole Foods. (If you haven't been in this area in a while and you're iffy about walking back from the Thorndale station at night, give it a shot. The neighborhood's changed a lot, froufy restaurants and all.) Internet works fine, air conditioner works as advertised. I feel like I used up karma points because I was able to park right in front of the building, but actually there's just really easy parking in the neighborhood. Two notes for visitors: it's up three winding flights of stairs, and there's no elevator, so if you're stopping through with a lot of luggage or you have an issue with stairs, it may be a bit of a struggle. Also, she's not kidding about the temp difference in the kitchen: in summer, you'll be warm in there. (Which is weird. Everything else cools down fine.) Janet's extremely clear and johnny-on-the-spot with her communication. If you're wondering how something in the apartment works, go back and read the instructions she left; she probably already wrote it down for you.

It is a very charming apartment with many books, paints, and decorations. It's also very spacious. Overall, it is a very pleasant experience to stay there.

Janet was friendly, quick to respond, and very helpful. I adore this apartment! Massive windows- so lots of sunlight and ventilation throughout the place. The area is quiet and convenient. Would definitely recommend.

Delightful eclectic apartment, short walk to the "L"-- everything we were looking for! Enjoyed French press coffee on the sweet little red and white kitchen, with beautiful light from the big windows. Cozy and homey.

Janet was very nice and easy to work with. She was extremely accommodating especially considering we weren't sure exactly what time we were getting in or leaving. She responded to my questions right away and made herself available had we needed her during our stay (and pointed us to an alternate person if she wasn't available). Her apartment is super cute and roomy, especially if only rooming up to 4 people. The bed was comfortable and the apartment was quiet. Only downside was Sunday night (around midnight) parking, but otherwise parking was not an issue (and that night we found parking just a couple blocks away). I would certainly recommend Janet for anyone looking to spend time in the Chicago area/

It was such a pleasure staying in Janet's space. She was timely and helpful in coordinating our stay and quickly answered all of our questions and made sure our key pick up was simple and convenient. Her apartment is charming, clean, spacious, and full of some pretty sweet artwork! Having such a wonderful place to stay allowed us to really enjoy the city and the incredible neighborhood. The apartment was conveniently located by the red line to get around Chicago, but to be perfectly honest, we could have spent our entire stay in the neighbourhood and close by Andersonville, so full of wonderful restaurants (Bongo Room, Sauce and Bread Kitchen, and Svea) and incredible theatre (The Neo-Futurists). We would definitely recommend staying at Janet's!

I'm in my early 30s and love to travel, especially around the US. In new cities I like to visit bookstores, coffee shops, presidential museums, and city parks.

If you stay at my place I'll do my best to make sure you feel welcome and informed.
