The Guest House has a very homely atmosphere. The environment is quiet and rural and there is a lot of wild game to be seen on the road to Grahamstown. It is a safe little village where one can roam freely. Piet Retief's old homestead and Church in the village open to public.

Servicios y zonas comunes

Guests have access to the pool and braai facility as well as large garden. Dinner/Breakfasts are served in open plan dining room/lounge and TV in lounge for guest viewing.

Atención a los huéspedes

We live on the premises with out 2 daughters a Great Dane (pussycat) and 4 lazy cats so we interact quite a lot with our guests and the atmosphere is family orientated and relaxed, home away from home where most people tend to join us in the kitchen making evening meals etc

Cary's bnb was well located and easy to find and a stones throw away from Grahamstown. Neil welcomed us who made us feel at home. The bnb was very comfortable, neat and beautifully decorated. The inclusion of breakfast was also a very nice touch. Very peaceful location and a friendly host - highly recommended!

When we arrived were greeted by a friendly host and all was smooth booking in. The area however isn't the greatest as there isn't much to do in Riebeeck East and there isn't much to do at the guest house either. The facilities were clean and comfortable but in our experience a little expensive compared to hotels and other air bnb places.

The hosts were extremely helpful, giving us directions when we got a bit lost, preparing dinner for us at the last minute and giving us advice for our trip to Grahamstown - including providing us with parking in the town! The room was nice and the bathroom was huge. The village was very cute. And they had lovely cats and dogs!

The reception at Cary' s place was very convivial and warm. The room we slept in was big and with an en-suite bathroom. Cary and her husband are very friendly people and in the morning, we had an interesting conversation about life in small-town South Africa during breakfast, which included a wonderful fruit salad.

I was made welcome upon arrival queries were answered promptly. Firm bed was very comfortable, with decent linen. Neighbourhood is in the middle of nowhere with minimal street lights, lots of bright stars visible. Cows, sheep and goats periodically roam the streets, very peaceful town with quiet neighbours if any. Beware though, minimal MTN cell phone reception.

It is incomprehensible why this guest house has not made it to a tourist attraction. The room was above average comfortable, with a good bed and very clean bathroom. We were offered a dinner for only 65 Rand, which was very welcome as there were no stores around. The hosts are very kind and easy going, and their dog is an impressive but very cute must-see. Breakfast was included, and we could have all the coffee or tea we wanted, which is quite a service. There wasn't anything that we missed. Furthermore, the 30 km dirt road leading up to the village offers beautiful scenery and is an experience in itself. Also, from the very first encounter in the village people greet and welcome you, up to dancing and waving car washers. Nothing of a 'dangerous South Africa', or ' beware of the townships', bust simply very nice and welcoming people. Book with Neil and Samantha and you can also skip the nature reserves, as you will be right in the middle of one, with free game viewing when you drive through the private game reserves just outside of town. It was a perfect overnight stay before moving into Addo. Highly recommended!
