We stayed at Julie's house for one week in June. We were a party of 10 consisting of four adults and 6 children. Julie liaised with us in the week before our trip to check what time we would arrive. She was there on arrival at 9.15pm, which did not pose a problem for her even though it was quite late in the evening. She provided us with a comprehensive tour of the magnificent house before allowing us to settle in. Given the extensive facilities at the house, Julie offered to visit again the next day and to bring an English speaking friend to assist with the translation of trickier questions. However, the house is so well designed and maintained that everything worked well and no further explanation was required.
The house is set in a beautiful, peaceful valley flanked by fruit trees of every description. The view from the front patio is superb with few cars passing by on the road below. It is a truly unique house in a gorgeous and unspoilt setting. There is so much to do at the house that we were content to spend much of our one week stay in and around the house. We made use of the recreational facilities in the garden, especially the boules pit, the pool, sauna and jacuzzi, the well-equipped games room and the modern kitchen and barbecue.
The bedrooms are luxurious with super bathrooms and walk in wardrobes. The entire house is decorated beautifully, even the garage! An incredible amount of thought has gone into the design of the house which provides every comfort, convenience, luxury and entertainment you could possibly think of.
During our stay we visited St Etienne and Lyon. Both cities are about a one hour drive away and were well worth a visit. The village of St Desirat is a sleepy place with a distillery museum and shop. I can recommend the cherry liquor which goes well with a glass of sparkling wine.
Our stay at Julie's house is definitely one that will stay in our memories for ever. Julie is a wonderful hostess and we are grateful to have been able to stay at her stunning property.
