On top of Mount Carmelo, the 2-story house borders the Wildlife Refuge, overlooking the Refuge's vast tropical forest. Unobstructed expansive views stretch from the Caribbean to the Atlantic. Rustic; private; quiet; cool breezes day and night.

The space is a two-story, one bedroom (2 new queen size beds), one bathroom, 600 sq. foot, cottage perched on top of the mountain of Monte Carmelo. From our two porch balconies (upstairs and downstairs) the views of the Wildlife Refuge and Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans are unmatched by any on the island. The upstairs balcony features 2 hammocks for observing the mind-blowing views from above. The downstairs porch balcony features two rocking chairs, a sofa, a dining area and two swings. The views of the Refuge are equally stunning from both balconies. Banana, papaya and other fruit trees occupy much of the property so feel free to partake. The first floor of the house features a full kitchen: gas stove, oven, double sink, coffee maker, blender, full-size fridge and all of the dishes, utensils, pots and pans you would need should you decide to cook meals at home. The second floor of the house is the bedroom with two brand new queen size mattresses on the beds and a pair of french doors leading to the second story balcony. The single bathroom is off the bedroom. The house features a hot water outdoor shower made entirely of glass blocks. Water pressure is great. We have a washing machine should you need to do laundry at no extra charge. The house is mostly windows so light is great at all hours of the day in every room and the constant mountain breeze up there keeps things cool day and night without any need for air-conditioning. The stairwell leading to the upstairs is rather steep as are the drops off the balconies so we don't recommend this place for very old folks, families with small children or anyone who may have difficulty getting up and down steep stairs. Our design concept is that the simplicity of the house compliments the natural beauty of its surroundings and we think you'll agree.

Either I or my property manager will arrange to meet you upon your arrival and lead you to the house. One of us will act as a point person should you decide to contact us with any questions or concerns during your stay.

It would be hard to overstate the natural beauty of our neighborhood seeing as the majority of it is Wildlife Refuge. We have very few neighbors and our closest ones are the equivalent of one or two city blocks away. It is secluded yet accessible. 5 minutes to the closest convenience store, 10 minutes to Isabel Segunda and Esperanza. Wild horses roam daily up in these parts. Egrets, eagles, and many species of hummingbird are among the plethora of birds and other wildlife that can be observed in the Refuge below from our two porch balconies. The sunrise and sunset are breathtaking and the moon rises directly over the rolling hills of the Refuge in front of our balconies. A full moon rising is an incredible sight to be seen from here. Stargazing is magnificent as we are far enough from Isabel II and Esperanza that we are not affected by their light pollution. External noise never interrupts the cool mountain breeze during the day or the symphony of coqui frogs, crickets and other wildlife that occupy the Refuge's soundscape after dark. On either side of the Refuge are views of the Caribbean and Atlantic Oceans with views stretching all the way to Culebra Island, St. Thomas and St. Croix.

We strongly recommend renting a vehicle for your stay.

Remember that we have built a house in an area not normally inhabited by humans. If you're looking for a secluded, well-designed rustic cottage with magnificent views then this is your place. This is not, however, a stay at the W hotel. The natural beauty surrounding the house far exceeds any you will find at a hotel. That said, if you see guekos or insects or coqui frogs you've never seen before, don't be frightened or disgusted. We have moved into their home, not the other way around. If you wish to approach the horses, be sure to approach them from the front and not the back (horses can kick from the back if frightened). Our design concept is that the simplicity of the house compliments the natural beauty of its surroundings and we think you'll agree.

- Please use caution when on the balconies.
- All lights in the house are equipped with dimmers. Please keep lights as dim as possible unless otherwise necessary. One of the most beautiful things about our location is that light pollution is very low and we'd like to keep it that way. I think you'll find that stargazing and listening to the the nighttime songs of the Refuge wildlife is better enjoyed with dim (or no) light.
- Close windows around beds and all upstairs and downstairs doors before leaving each day. The daily tropical rains that sweep through the valley are brief but heavy, even on clear days.
- Never leave food stuff out and clean the kitchen abundantly so as to avoid pests during your stay and for those coming after you.
- Try to keep noise levels to a reasonable level, especially after 9 or 10pm.

Truly a special place. One of the highlights of vacationing in Vieques was staying here. Great serenity yet only a short drive to the beaches. Simple accommodations but felt no need for more with perfect scenery every where one looked.

We had a beautiful stay at Casa Sin Nombre. I think the photography gives a great sense of the space and of the view. The house has a great handmade feel, and it has everything you need in terms of amenities. We loved reading on the back porch, as well as the daily visits from two of the local island dogs. It's a bit of a drive up to the house, but well worth it!

This place is fantastic! It is rustic and includes magnificent views. There are so many friendly animals who visit every day, including three dogs and several horses. We fell in love with all of them! Miriam is fantastic as the property manager!

A beautiful setting, it really was the best on the island! It was quiet, private, and very relaxing with the outdoor decks and spectacular views. The birds are beautiful to listen to each morning as well as the clouds and the sunrise. It was perfect for us and we hope to return next year!

Amazing view, quit, scenic. Off the grid, without being totally off the grid. Close to secluded beaches and fun nightlife. Everything we needed for a romantic vacation.

This is a true gem of a cabin. There are ocean views from both the lower and upper decks -- even when lying in a hammock. The sunrises are beautiful, and the sky is very dark at night for stargazing. The cabin comes well equipped with a good selection of pots and pans if you want to cook (we did several times), and many cooking essentials are already in the kitchen. There are other thoughtful touches, like beach chairs, a cooler and even kids' floatie devices to take to the beach with you. There is satellite internet which works just fine for email, basic browsing, and wifi enabled phones, but you won't be streaming any movies. The outdoor shower has warm water (it's walled and well protected from view from all angles), All in all, a really nice place and centrally located. Be aware that you need to be able bodied to enjoy this place: there are flagstone steps downhill from the parking spot to the cabin, and the steps to the beds and bathroom on the second floor are very steep. Also, this really is a jungle cabin, so you should expect to encounter little lizards on the deck, the occasional tarantula (not inside, and they are docile lazy ones), and mosquitoes everywhere. The owner is very responsive even though he is not on the island -- we couldn't figure out how to turn on the oven and texted him, and he responded immediately; and the lady who manages the property is also very nice. So bring your mosquito repellent, your flashlight, and prepare to have a wonderful time!
