The flat is very conveniently placed in the centre of the village near the bus stop, ferry terminal and shops. It does have a sea view which wasn't apparent from the picture. We are keen walkers and found a couple of great routes on the doorstep. This is the end of the bus route so if you want to go south you will need a car, taxi or feet. The buses are hourly and we used this as a base to travel round Mainland and further south using the weekly megarider ticket. The flat is well equipped and very comfortable.
We had an amazing time at Sarahs Apartment. We really recomend the organic bread from wheems organic farm and the eastcoastal path, starting at the cemetery below the farm

Hi Nina, So glad you enjoyed the flat! And thanks for the tip about the bread from Wheems - i didn't know! The art work (batik) above the sofa was by a wonderful woman who lived there (sadly she died a couple of years ago). And glad you found the Tait book of interest too. Sorry I didn't get the chance to meet you. It would have been nice to discuss your studies of film and tv!

What a beautiful, cosy apartment full of Orcadian art, crafts and books - and a view across the bay from the window! The bed was so comfortable and there was everything we wanted in the flat for a week long stay. There are some nice places to eat and drink in the village and local grocery shops too. St Margarets Hope was a great choice for us because it was quiet and a good base to travel around this incredible island. Sarah was very friendly and helpful, always responding quickly to emails. Highly recommended!

Hi Raine, Thanks for the lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed the flat and the village. I really love the Hope too! And thanks for the tip about the tin opener - a Swiss Army knife at the neighbours probably not something for regular use (although may be helpful in the house manual!). I'll be in touch once I see about the DVD.

This is the best AirBNB flat we have ever used. Superb position overlooking Scapa Flow with good bus service available. Local walks and 30 mins from Kirkwall across the Churchill Barriers. We must have done the journey nearly 30 times and it still had a wow factor every time. The flat is warm with every amenity we could need. Highly recommended!
