It's not often that you find yourself in a completely different but amazing and immersive experience but this is exactly what Mount Noah has to offer. A fully immersive boating experience (on land) in every way, pun intended.
From the second we arrived, my boyfriend and I were in awe of the yard filled with charming boats and extremely excited for what was ahead of us.
Hugo and Mari-Lize greeted us after warmly, even after having made them wait a little while due to distractions on our road trip. But as soon as we met, they were friendly and full of knowledge about boats, sailing and of course very excited to tell us about the amazing project and work that they are doing. Which I can't emphasise enough, is remarkable.
Hugo restores and builds the boats himself and if that's not impressive enough, the boats are BEAUTIFUL! From the second we stepped aboard, we felt like we were in a wonderland of pirate ships and large sails. Of course having a cozy bed and a flash drive filled with nautical themed movies (given to us by Hugo) made it all the better!
And honestly, I can say that I had one of the best and most peaceful nights in a long time.
Other parts of the experience that made it wonderful was all the willingness Hugo and Mari-Lize had helping us find somewhere to eat and even offering to cook us dinner. And the next day, Mari-Lize had set-up one of the most delicious Karoo breakfasts out there. Plus their collie, Zara brings a familiar family feel to the place, which I loved.
The way that Mount Noah is run reminds you that they're are still wonderful people with amazing ideas and talents who can create a one-of-a-kind night and experience that I will definitely be back for.
We can't wait to see your bus visiting our side of the country soon and to see all the other boats and restorations when we return.
Thank you to the Captain and Crew.
