To be honest, stay somewhere else if you can. We booked a transfer with the host (which is actually a rental/management/tour company called Zig Zag) from the airport in Dubrovnik to the Air BnB and provided our flight arrival details, so I mistakenly assumed that getting keys to the apartment would be easy. Not so! The driver (who was friendly and following his own orders) dropped us outside the Old City walls. We were given no instructions about where to go after that. The four of us humped our heavy bags to the apartment address to find no one there. A kindly waiter at the restaurant next door told us where the office of Zig Zag was, but there was no one there either. When we called the number on the BnB booking, someone in Zagreb answered and seemed to have no idea what was going on or what we should do. Finally after 20 minutes of this mess after a long flight, we finally reached someone and were let in. The apartment itself is on the fourth floor of an old building where there is frequently poop of some kind left in the hallways. Don't expect anyone to help you get your bags up there. The alley outside of the main door is where trash get collected every morning and the attic bedroom faces out onto a square with a very, um, lively, jazz band which wasn't optimal for sleeping. Some of the people we interacted with at Zig Zag were very kind and helpful, but this was on a case by case basis. Many seemed only interested in pushing their tour packages. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our overall experience.

This apartment was fantastic! Right in the middle of Dubrovnik's Old Town within walking distance to restaurants, attractions, etc. The photos were a totally accurate description of the apartment - everything was very clean when we arrived. To note - there is no elevator in the building and the unit is on the third floor but that wasn't an issue for us at all. There is one bedroom on the main floor which was quite generous and then a loft bedroom in the attic which was very cool! We were late arriving (apologies!) and we weren't able to notify our host as we didn't have wifi until we got to the city, but they were extremely accommodating given our delayed arrival. When we arrived we messaged our host who asked us to come meet us elsewhere to get the keys - i responded that we were tired from travelling all day and they came and met us at the apartment. The gentleman who met us was polite, professional and was able to answer all our questions. In summary, this is a fantastic apartment with the best location!! would certainly recommend to anyone travelling to Dubrovnik :)

This was the worst experience I've ever had on AirBnb. I booked for myself and a friend and we were due to arrive on a Saturday. On the Wednesday I received a message from an agency the host seemed to have engaged on her behalf saying they were looking forward to welcoming us on the Thursday. I emailed back to say we were not due until the Saturday but obviously this was worrying because they didn't seem to have the right day for the booking. They emailed back about arrival times on the Saturday but there was no mention of having got the day wrong. On the day we arrived into Dubrovnik the agency told us to to to their office not to the apartment. When we arrived to the office everything seemed fine at first and then they asked if we were 2 or 4 people (the apartment took 4). As soon as we said we were 2, they asked us to come in a sit down. They said there had been a problem with the apartment and it had flooded so they couldn't give it to us. They suggested another apartment outside the town walls (about 10 mins walk) that they described as an 'upgrade'. I asked why they hadn't let us know further in advance and they said they thought they could solve the problem. All this was being relayed 3rd hand through some agency staff. We couldn't get hold of Martine and when I called her direct from my personal phone someone else (apparently) picked up and said she wasn't available. She did call back about 15 minutes later (by now it was quite a bit after our planned check in time) to reiterate what the agency staff were saying. We asked about help taking our cases to the alternative apartment given it was quite far away and we'd already lugged them to the agency office, and they were quite rude. Eventually they called a man to help - which was very lucky as it turned out the apartment they were suggesting as a substitute was off a side road and had about 80 steps to climb. The agency staff refused to come with us (we had agreed that we would have a look at the place and decide what to do) so we went on our own with the guy they called who spoke no English at all. The apartment was a 10 minute walk away and I would definitely not describe it as an 'upgrade' given the fact it was not in the old town, had lots of steps, was musty and old, had a couple of cockroaches running around, very poor lighting in the kitchen and incredibly uncomfortable beds. There was a terrace which was nice but we weren't ever going to be there long enough to make use of it so this didn't make any difference. I would have appreciated the option of Loki at alternative accommodation prior to 3pm on the...
