Welcome to my private studio apartment with a separate entrance and private bath. There is a mini fridge/freezer, a microwave, toaster oven, two-burner hot plate, electric frying pan and coffee pot. Recently renovated bathroom, fresh towels, wash cloths and soap, freshly laundered sheets and bedspread. Iron and ironing board upon request.

Sykesville has just been named The Coolest Small Town in America! We are thrilled. Come and enjoy what this wonderful little town has to offer!

My apartment is decorated in the minimalist style--full-sized bed with new linens and breadspread, bedside tables and lamps, plenty of counter space for eating and preparing food. Mini fridge stocked with snacks, breakfast for first few days, a toaster oven and microwave and a coffee maker. The bathroom has a large shower, new vanity and toilet, recessed lighting, mid-century flooring and tiles, newly painted--a fun and eclectic style.

You are welcome to share my deck, which overlooks the back of the property. A lovely place to have morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening, read a book, enjoy the country air and the beautiful surroundings.

Please use the gravel driveway to the right of the main driveway and park on the gravel driveway just past the brick barbecue, which will be on your left. Go around the deck to the basement steps. It is well-lit if you arrive at night or return from an activity when it's dark.

I'm happy to interact with you as often or as little as you'd like. I'm completely available to communicate with you 24/7 - just message me.

There is so much to see and do in Sykesville. You will find my Guidebook when you arrive with links that describe all that Sykesville has to offer, including restaurants, shops, bars, events, attractions, and sports, as well as parks and trails, boating, and wine tastings, among others. We have a brand-new skate board park and a playground. What a treat to see kids and parents enjoying these facilities.

Sykesville is definitely in a rural area, meaning there is no public transportation available.

There are many fine wineries in the area, in beautiful rural settings, where you can do a tasting or just enjoy a glass or two of local Maryland wine.

What a little hidden gem! Spacious, clean and private stay. Camilla was one of the best hosts we've had as she was personable, available and hospitable-- even leaving us breakfast, drinks, snacks and everything we ever could have needed. We will MOST definitely be back!

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. Camilla was very helpful and a gracious host. Beautiful location off the grid. Perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

It was a great place to stay at for one night. Just as described. She was very accommodating with everything. Due to muddy conditions at the entrance to the basement she let us go in through her house. Very friendly and great communication. I highly recommend this place. Would stay here again if I was to visit any surrounding cities.

I had a great 4-night stay here. Generous amount of space, with tons of amenities, and everything is very clean. Lots of privacy, but Camilla was responsive and hospitable. I suggest bringing a pair of slippers, as the floor can get a bit cold, but the space itself was a comfortable temperature and there's a hefty space heater if you need it. Would definitely stay again.

Camilla's place was lovely and just as cozy as the pictures displayed. We stayed her place to attend a wedding in town. The location was in close proximity to where the wedding venue and reception were held, which was very convenient. The place was easy to access and provided just the amenities that we needed. Camilla had a hot plate available to use, which was a pleasant surprise! Definitely recommend Camilla's place for anyone looking for a peaceful place right outside of Baltimore or Bethesda.

Hello! My name is Camilla. I am originally from Washington DC but have lived all over the world—Spain, England, France, Germany, Okinawa, San Francisco, Seattle—to name a few.

I have retired from my job as a Proposal Developer with a nationwide medical staffing company. I earned my BFA at Goddard College at the age of 62--a life-long goal, finally achieved.

I have two children—a son who lives in Houston with his wife and baby daughter, and a daughter who has just become a physician and will be moving to Louisville, Kentucky, to begin her internship with her husband, an IT professional.

I am an avid reader and belong to two book clubs. I am slowly beginning to enjoy gardening. I go to an exercise class for old ladies like me, and a yoga class. Absolutely love music of all kinds, especially blues, rock and Latino.

Twenty-eight years ago we moved to Howard County to raise our family, and we never left. The countryside is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. As you can see from my photos, the view from my front door is truly rural Maryland at its best.

Sykesville was just named The Coolest Small Town in America. It is also one of the safest. The businesses are independently owned. There are four unique clothing stores, a great book store, and an excellent hair salon. There are five small restaurants, including a creperie, a sports bar, a higher-end eatery which is a converted train station, a wine bar, and a deli. We have a farmer’s market every Sunday morning, just off Main Street. It is a wonderful place to live.

I would love to have you stay with me and experience Sykesville, as I do every day.

Welcome!
