You are welcome to share my deck, which overlooks the back of the property. A lovely place to have morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening, read a book, enjoy the country air and the beautiful surroundings.
Please use the driveway to the right of the main driveway and park on the street side of the brick barbecue, which will be on your left. Go around the deck to the basement steps. It is well-lit if you arrive at night or return from an activity when it's dark.

There are many fine wineries in the area, in beautiful rural settings, where you can do a tasting or just enjoy a glass or two of local Maryland wine.
Historic Harper’s Ferry where abolitionist John Brown led a group of 21 men in a raid on the arsenal, is just under an hour from Sykesville. The town was a crossroads for troops on both sides of the conflict and is full of history for Civil War buffs.
It is also a fantastic place for tubing on the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.
Another site for history buffs, is the iconic town of Gettysburg, famous for the Battle of Gettysburg, a turning point in the Civil War, and the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address" is approximately an hour from Sykesville.
Frederick, Maryland is a charming city full of history with a wonderful old town section with beautiful row houses, restaurants, bars and shops. It is located about 20 minutes from Sykesville.

Hello! My name is Camilla. I am originally from Washington DC but have lived all over the world—Spain, England, France, Germany, Okinawa, San Francisco, Seattle—to name a few.
I have retired from my job as a Proposal Developer with a nationwide medical staffing company. I earned my BFA at Goddard College at the age of 62--a life-long goal, finally achieved.
I have two children—a son who lives in Houston with his wife and baby daughter, and a daughter who has just become a physician and will be moving to Louisville, Kentucky, to begin her internship with her husband, an IT professional.
I am an avid reader and belong to two book clubs. I am slowly beginning to enjoy gardening. I go to an exercise class for old ladies like me, and a yoga class. Absolutely love music of all kinds, especially blues, rock and Latino.
Twenty-eight years ago we moved to Howard County to raise our family, and we never left. The countryside is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. As you can see from my photos, the view from my front door is truly rural Maryland at its best.
Sykesville was just named The Coolest Small Town in America. It is also one of the safest. The businesses are independently owned. There are four unique clothing stores, a great book store, and an excellent hair salon. There are five small restaurants, including a creperie, a sports bar, a higher-end eatery which is a converted train station, a wine bar, and a deli. We have a farmer’s market every Sunday morning, just off Main Street. It is a wonderful place to live.
I would love to have you stay with me and experience Sykesville, as I do every day.
