Servicios y zonas comunes
"La Baraque" is made of the main building (sleep up to 8 plus two babies) and the clède (sleeping 4), both building are rented together during the summer months. Of course you will never share the area with other persons, the two buildings are never rented separately. See the floor plans for more layout information.
Please come in!
Your discovery of the house begins with the living room, a large open space with beautifully restored stones. The mass of the stones makes the house cool in the summer and stable in the colder months. Under very hot weather, with outside temperatures above 35°C, the interior of the house remains comfortable and rarely over 25°C, even with full doors and windows open. TV with Satellite Channels is available (in French, good for French language practice!), a small table for playing cards or games as well as a bookshelf with lots of books are available. On the ground floor (actually it is already the 1st floor since the ground floor is used as a large cellar) you will also find a fully equipped kitchen, with a traditional dining table and bench, easily sitting eight people, if not ten. At the back of the kitchen a small utility area will help for storage and accommodates a wash machine and dryer. On this floor there is a toilet (located against the rock!…which amazes our visitors) and a bathroom with a bath, ideal for young babies.
All Bedrooms are located in the first floor offering an unbelievable view across the opposite mountains (already located in the Gard department) or the Chassezac River.
The “Open Space” Bedroom has been restored to fully highlight the beautiful woodwork of the roof. This space with storage could be used for as a board room, play area, or if needed as a bedroom. It can accommodate one trundle sofa bed (converting into a full double bed), one trundle sofa bed (1 bed) and one single bed, that could also be used as a sofa. All beds have nice comfy mattresses.
There are two extra bedrooms:
“La Lorraine” with a traditional double bed and a chest of drawers.
“La Violette”, at the end of the corridor, with a modern double bed and a baby wooden bed. A cot can also easily be accommodated in this large room. A traditional walnut cupboard is available.
Both bed rooms have been beautifully renovated showing the woodwork and the large stones.
Also in this this floor there is a newly renovated modern bathroom with shower and double wash basins. There is a separate toilet in this floor.
Groundfloor: bathroom with WC, washbasin and shower
1st Floor: bunk beds
2nd floor: double bed

Otros aspectos destacables
When you arrive in « La Baraque » you will discover a beautiful stone-made washing place under a nearly centenary fig tree. Early September you will be able to collect delicious figs and, like us, be tempted to prepared fig jam. An old stone stair leads to the vast patio that can be secured if you have babies or young children. A pergola of Virginia creeper provides the necessary shadow during the summer over half of the patio. Another stone-made stair climbs behind the “clède” (old chesnut drying house, “clède” is a typical name and building of Ardèche) towards a forest of old chesnut and oak trees. The 8 acres of land (most of it attached to the house) are organised in terraces as the land is sloping, however it is not recommended the let children play in the terraces without the supervision of an adult. A terrace with deck chairs has been restored immediately behind the clède to relax peacefully in the sunshine.
