The cabin was built by my grandfather in 1953 as a summer retreat. My grandparents used to spend the whole summer there, often with family & friends. We fully renovated it in 2014, introduced new comforts, but preserved the character.
The cabin is situated on the slope of the hill "Ostry" at the edge of the forest, with nice views at the Tyra valley below. It has three small bedrooms with 5 bunk beds total (2+2+1), with new 80x200 cm orthopedic mattresses. (The upper beds require climbing up a ladder.) A sofa bed in the lounge can be unfolded to sleep additional two.
Servicios y zonas comunes
Parking is 100 meters away below the cabin. The difference in elevation is 20 m. You need to be able to walk up a narrow unimproved forest path. Walk carefully and watch for stones, twigs, and slippery spots. The cabin is definitely NOT SUITABLE for people with walking disabilities or impairments! For returns late at night you will need a torch light (there are some in the cabin).
Atención a los huéspedes
If I am around, I will meet you in person. (I speak English, Russian, Czech, and some German and Polish.) If I am not around, someone will meet you, give you the keys, show you around and explain how things work. You will have my current phone number. Cell phone network coverage is good.
I am sometimes abroad or in an area without network coverage or internet access. Here are some alternative numbers to reach me: +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
Otros aspectos destacables
On very dry summers after weeks without rain (happens rarely), the water which we source from the forest spring might get low or stop running. You can buy drinking water in a grocery store about 3 km down the valley or in nearby restaurants/pubs ("U Kotaly", "U Liberdy"). If you don't use water during the day, enough water might collect for evening shower. (Dry spells usually correlate with hot weather, so you can also plunge into the river running down the valley - there are several nice spots used by locals.)
We do not provide internet connection but if you can access the internet through your cell phone, the network coverage is strong by all major Czech mobile phone operators. There are several places nearby with free WiFi (for example, "U Kotaly").
Absolute ban on smoking in the cabin as well as around the cabin (cabin is made of wood, surrounded by forest - DANGER OF FIRE!). We look for mature responsible guests. Watch kids. If you are outside in the evening, be quiet (noise spreads down the valley quite well). We prefer no pets but can make exceptions if your pet is well behaved and trained and you bring your pet's litter box with you. Be careful if you make a bonfire in the outside bonfire pit. Have adult person be present all time; extinguish ashes with water. In the spells of dry weather there may be in force a communal ban on bonfires or BBQs - check with the locals.
