Información sobre este anuncio

A large studio apartment with a queen bed, daybed, kitchen and bath that opens on one of the loveliest 4 acres of private gardens in the Berkshires. Enjoy walking our woodland trails, rest a while by the brook or take a sauna under the stars. A piece of heaven.

El alojamiento

Created by a designer of interiors and gardens & her master builder husband, the country cottage at RavenTree offers a wonderful setting for rest, reflection and enjoying nature. Our brook is a perennial stream feeding the Green River and the woodland trails and occasional benches encourage lingering. We are about 35 minutes from Tangelwood and Kripalu and 50 mintues from Jacobs Pillow.

Servicios y zonas comunes

In addition to the grounds, the stone terrace at the entrance to the cottage has convenient outdoor seating. Wood fired saunas are available upon request and must be booked 24 hours in advance. The Apartment comes with an electric fireplace, that is cozy any time, but especially nice during ski season.

Atención a los huéspedes

We are available for questions and recommendations at check-in time and afterwards by chance.

Otros aspectos destacables

The cottage has its own entrance and check in time is 3 PM. Checkout is 12 noon. We have a mostly indoor cat, Abigail, and a friendly dog who is always on a lead. We LOVED out stay at the garden cottage. The setting was beautiful and peaceful, the cottage was comfortable and bright. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay close to Berkshire attractions, this is a great spot. Priscilla was a helpful and kind host - we'll definitely return.

Priscilla's place was amazing. The nicest people anywhere. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, well equipped, and it's in a great location. They even have a wood-fired sauna that they prepared for us adding an extra treat that really made our stay special. Highly, highly recommend it.

Priscilla and her husband are very warm and had lots of recommendations for the area. It's on a beautiful plot of land that is fun to explore. The cabin is beautiful and the coffee was a perk... Keep in mind that the cabin is an apartment right off the main house, so if you want to be secluded a lot it's probably not for you, but we really enjoyed it. Thank you for a great stay!

Despite being the rainiest weekend of the year, our stay with Priscilla and Bruce was amazing. Their greeting was warm and they made us feel comfortable and at home instantly. The apartment was the perfect base to explore the Berkshires from. The space is completely private, and no detail was spared in making us feel comfortable and relaxed during our stay. The space is as quaint and clean as it looks in the photos, the bed was very comfortable, and the garden was beautiful, and a very nice view to wake up to in the morning. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a nice relaxing trip to the Berkshires, or even upstate NY (they are only a minute or so from the NYS border). We were in the Berkshires celebrating my girlfriend's birthday and they made it extremely special - Thank you Priscilla and Bruce, we can't wait to come back.

This lovely cottage in Great Barrington of MA surpassed our expectation. My boyfriend and I stayed here for three days and we were surprised how convenient the location was -- close to the town with big markets and delicious restaurants while secluded with beautiful private garden. The house had everything you need for a short stay, however, it is attached to a bigger house so be aware that you are not renting the "entire" home. No Tmobile reception on the area so relying on GPS can be quite tricky. Overall, it was a nice, quiet getaway.

I have a real job and own a business in New York for over 21 years. However, you could say RavenTree was my life's work--it is certainly where my heart lives. When I acquired the house in 1993, it was an un-insulated farm house on 4.75 acres so over grown that no one knew exactly where there brook was. Essentially, the house was a very happy house to begin with and all I had to do was add mine to it. That seems to be the way in New England. Everyone takes a house and starts adding on. I have remodeled here and there, painted restored, decorated and entertained my way through 22 years. Together with family and friends, we have created gardens, laid stone paths, built bridges, raised a small timber frame barn with mostly ropes and winches and harvested some of our trees that served us as we built our log cabin sauna. We have hosted a wedding, participated in garden tours to raise money for the Berkshire Botanical Garden and now we are renting our cottage garden apartment. Those are some of the external milestones.
But my life here has been an inside job, as well. When I first moved to RavenTree, I didn't know what a perennial was. It has been a long and rewarding discovery to have learned my place in nature’s scheme of things. Today I am conversant with both perennials and annuals and their Latin names and have planted well over 400 trees. Some didn't make it, or survive winter storms, but many have succeeded and are towering today. One of my favorite morning activities is to take the garden walk that leads to the woodland trails. There I begin to see and hear that I am surrounded with living things—things I may not have noticed before, that don’t owe their existence to me. Weird mushrooms, for example.
Our land starts in a valley; as you go past the house, it rises to include a hill of old and new growth trees. The woods provide a cool retreat in hot weather. Not that we have a lot of dog days in the Berkshires-- I grew up in Texas, so that is my reference point. But having been to almost every state in America and having lived abroad for several years, I can honestly say in a Berkshire summer or fall we have more than our share of A++ weather days.
Part of my journey with nature at RavenTree has brought me closer to the healing arts of dance movement, yoga and other modalities of a mind-body relationship. A grounding of sorts with something exists with us, between heaven and earth. In fact, the first name I gave to my home was Angel’s Rest—an invitation to those who have gone before us to manifest and linger. I hope it will always be a place where many can find time to read, write, contemplate and heal.
The best introduction I can give you to RavenTree is to tell you about some of the things intrinsic to this place so that you may discover them as well. The Berkshires is a great area to visit and some call it the “touchy-feely” capital of the world. If you are looking for alternative life styles, you can find them here. The Berkshires is also a big place. We have so much to offer in the way of music, theater, dance, museums, historic houses, antiques, country fairs and a thriving local food movement. For my part, I feel the greatest blessings are its quiet hills at daybreak and dusk where nature seems more important than everything else added up together.
We lead busy lives and those of us who are die-hard city dwellers seem to have a pent up need for grass between our toes and dining al fresco. All the concrete and the sheer density of people makes us covet our privacy and relish the thought of leaving the rat race, if only for a few days. If you find yourself nodding your head, if this description strikes a chord, we hope you may find that our corner of the Berkshires is a little piece of heaven -- and it has a spot in its heart just for you.
We look forward to greeting you.

Warm Regards,
Priscilla Tate
